My TE 630 is bone stock and i can loft the front wheel up to the balance point without the clutch in FIFTH. If i clutch it i can do it in SIXTH or SEVENTH  Honest ! I will post the video as soon as i can figure out how to

    Bikes don't wheelie. People do.

It's a skill, folks. One I do not possess, to be sure. But a skill nonetheless. A good rider can wheelie any bike in any gear...

True, but when someone comes along talking about their X gear power wheelies, they usually fail to mention the massive kangaroo hop they have to do to get it up. I don't usually bounce to pick a wheel, it will clutch up so easily in 2nd and sometimes 3rd without even changing posture that I don't bother... but i've got a stock-geared SMS 15-38).

Good point. Rider skill is one very important part of a successful wheelie. Lower gearing and a powerful engine make things more manageable.

A bone stock TE630 is very difficult to wheelie...in any gear. Add a few bolt ons and she becomes a champ at it.

Exactly. One of my friends rode my TE yesterday for the first time. He's on the thing for about 12 feet and as he shifts into second stands the thing right up and rides it down the street. Took me a month on the bike before I was confident enough to try it.

Another thing that people fail to mention is their gearing. They preach all day long about how easy it is to wheelie their bike and talk down to those of us that disagree. Turns out, they have geared their bike down, and I have not.

Now, I suck at wheelies, so take this with a grain of salt. But, with my stock geared, powered up, JD Jetted, Leo Vince full system-ed bike, the only gear I can manage a wheelie in with nothing but a handful of throttle is 1st.

LRPct did just that. Came in here and talked about how easily his bike wheelies in 4th gear. Then, 2-3 posts later, admits that he changed the gearing. That makes a big difference.

I stand corrected. I see that you did mention your gearing in the original post. In my defense, what I mentioned does happen around here.

In my defense, to sit there and question those of us with stock gearing that can't wheelie in 4th gear with just a throttle twist while your bike is geared down is comparing apples-to-oranges.

My SMS (with stock gearing) will pull the wheel with throttle only in 2nd with a bounce. It'll clutch up in 2nd with no effort and clutch up in 3rd with a good hard bounce.
I've never tried it in 4th but I doubt I can bounce it hard enough for that...
It's opened up in/out and JD'd though. Stock it was pretty gutless as usual.

My TE is similar, opened up and with stock gearing. There's no way I'd be able to power wheelie it in 4th gear.

I've wheelied it THROUGH 4th, starting in 2nd, but not quite the same...

Just so we are all on the same page here..

First, the TE610 comes stock with a 15/45 gear combo, conversely the TE630 comes geared higher with a 15/42 (gearbox ratios are identical).

Second you have re-geared your TE610 to a 14/45 gear combo which I have yet to hear of anyone doing with their TE630.

Third, when you are in 4th gear with your 610 using the 14/45 combo you are geared 15% lower than a stock TE630 in 4th.

I have no doubt that my 630 geared 15% lower using a 14/45 combo would easily do wheelies in 4th gear with the mods I have. Mine does them in third now with stock 15/42 gearing. Your TE610 4th gear is lower than my TE630 in 3rd gear.

If you need to prove it to yourself just find a gearing calculator and plug in the different gear ratios. Or better yet, put a 15/42 gear combo on your TE610 and try to do that 4th gear wheelie..

I can also tell you for fact that the TE610 with similar performance mods and gearing will not be close in acceleration to a TE630. BTW,, that is a fact.

OTHERS got in the discusssion vs. what bike and what gearing an dtalk of unicorns and honest polititian sighting etc..... I said FROM THE ORIGINAL POST what I had.. PUed 08 with 14-45. wtf.... reading comprehension anyone..??... Sorry, but I have lil patience for fingers pointed my way cause people can't eFFin read...

Hey I'm good at digesting posts. How about you? Now what is your point? You were proud you could wheelie in 4th gear. If you think your 610 is special and can outdo a 630, well you still have a few things to learn.. wheelie or acceleration.. the 630 is better, puts out more HP and torque and has negligible weight gain.. a few lbs once set up with a single can like the 610. Sorry to burst your bubble.

As for gearing changes, I for one have not changed the gearing on my TE630 because I ride at 80 mph for long durations and I'd smoke the motor with a 14/45 spinning high rpm and first would become useless. That make sense?
