Yep, David is out of town until Wednesday. I fired off an email to make sure we are on. Depending on what he says, I will be most likely be shipping him my ECU this week. If anybody has a stock dyno sheet with tables, this will help him make a map for the stockers. the maps I sent were for a single pipe conversion. One map with tables with baffle in, and one with baffle out. Baffle out is a pretty open pipe. I may be overly exited about this, but while my leg heals, my bike can also be getting the stuff it needs. I'll keep ya'll posted.
Mag who just broke his leg said he was sending his ecu shortly so maybe that is what will have to happen. The problem is with just sending in a ecu there is no way we are going to see the full potential of a ignition and fuel tuning. You have to at least use a dyno to compare different changes and what gives real world results. I was hoping they would get a bike to play with to see what could be the full potential of our bikes. I guess they will just remap the ecu for better fuel and if that is all they do why not just get a pc5 and auto tune. Technically it would be alot more accurate for individual bike owners with different modifications.
If we all throw in $25 to ship some ones bike will they rewrite ignition and fuel? It would be worth $25 to just know what the real difference dropping $1000+ in performance upgrades if it is worth it.
The way I understand how this works, according to other bikes like the BMW, once you own the rexxer, you send him info, parts changed, dyno sheets etc, the more the better. Then he sends you the new map for you to upload. I haven't asked if the maps would be able to be shared, might not, as each rexxer is mated to your vin. I'll ask him about it. He needs the ECU or bike, to basically crack it the first time, and write the parameters for our bike, TR650. The Strada, with ABS, would be the best bike, but he can work his magic off of just an ecu, then fine tune more maps on the fly so to speak. This is what he does for a living, and a good guess at a map, with his experience, will most likely run circles around any moss tune. All the plugs and interface exist already too (BMW 650) Ultimately, having a bike on the dyno, he can fine tune a base map to sell with the Rexxer unit. Most people, will have mods done and need a custom map anyway, and the dyno sheet with tables is what he would go off of. Later on, or years from now, if you wanted a new map and not want to spend the $600, you can send the ecu and he updates the ecu with known good map. That is what most people seem to opt for, and the reviews are pretty darn good. I myself want the tool. Right now, most of us are under warranty, but I assure you, $300 to make your bike run perfect is not that bad, especially when you consider what most shops charge, and multiple tries.
I see Toyboy will submit his machine to Rexxer which is the best news for a long time, new it was only a matter of time, well done that man!
Remove the plastic cover around the headlight. There is room under the cover to securely attach your chipped key. It can be kept there as a spare and will be close enough to the ignition key to allow an unchipped key to start the bike. John
I recently tried a similar experiment and the unchipped key worked great. I was going to ziptie it and gorilla tape it nearby, but I like your idea better. Good news! I heard from Bill's and my replacement key is going through Customs now. Don't want to get my hopes too high, but things are looking good. Bill's Motorcycle is the best! They never forget a customer and are such a pleasure to work with.
Here in Sth Oz ,we have Honda world, now also BMW motorrad. They had Ducati but it didn't work for them. Ducati gone. NOW they have KTM in the shop. So you'd think with BMW,KTM general bike know how I'd get more than an oil change for first service. We will see. I will ask them re moss tool....expecting a blank stare. Hit 1000 km today. Wish me husky good fortune. BTW. ..extended side stand by chopping off one half of an aluminum meat tenderizer and screwing it to the end of the stand..now just under 1 inch extended..huge difference...if you want photos of half a meat tenderizer stuck to the end of a side stand let me know.....
OK you fanciers of low tech gizmos. Here are photos of non OEM improvements constructed by me. The sidestand was a little precarious when the L side surface fell away . I boosted the length of the stand by removing one half of a meat tenderizer $3 and fixing the smooth side after flattening the side by pushing it along the pavement with my foot...its aluminium so easy to grind. Next two metal screws through the foot of the stand into the block and held tight by my incredible screwing prowess (?!) and tons of locktite red. Pictures tell all. I painted it black because. View attachment 33956 I also added an $9 auxillary power outlet. And a $15 hard carry case for around the town. The SWM bars and plate and centrestand are also there. Next job will be to rebuild the engine cylinder using a mixture of goat cheese and kitty litter.
Email back ...they are hoping to have an ECU/Harness with which to play around in New Year..Fingers Crossed
