It's a new trip every day... as good as the dirt riding is, it's easy to get overwhelmed by the scenery and just the trip itself ... Plus there are people everywhere living and ridding bikes and you can find yourself watching their way of life in amazement and forget you have a great trail under you for riding ..

As big as the Pacific is, when crossing over to Masbate, we had to slow down and let this Super Ferry go first ..
    SuperFerry_Cross.jpg

Unbeknown to me, we had to stop over and deliver supplies to this very small island on the way over to Masbate... This added 2 hrs to the trip so we arrived after dark ..
    100_4795.JPG

Perfect beaches, crystal clear water ... I was told you can ride a bike around the entire island (~3 miles) on the beach

    Masbate (West coast)

Calumpang was the port where we landed ... Balud is the first BRGY of any size to stay at overnight unless you wanna camp-out ... I just followed a local guy to Balud that night so I would not get lost ...

Coast guard building in the background with the red roof ... Their flag pole was damaged by the last typhoon and not fixed yet ..
    100_4890.JPG

Nice dirt road to Balud ....

Cool just keep in contact ... I'm here to stay ... Good luck on bringing a bike here :) .. Let me know what you find out ...

There might be some way to move your family around on some of the bus lines here and follow us on the bikes because the buses use the same R0-R0 boats to cross over to different islands also ... So, on any day, we all ride across the water to an island together on a boat and have a known resort to stay at for a few days before we all move on to the next location ...

Or we can ride Cebu each day ...

Masbate was somewhat primitive and had some very cool, true sandy, beach road riding ... Also has open-pit gold mining at the NW tip of the island ...

These pics are of the coastal road heading North ...

Some bad weather started rolling it ... It was very isolated rain-fall as when I went forward, very little rain was found ...

Just keep in touch ... after this tour in March, we'll have a lot better idea on the mileage and stop over places ... I plan to research Panay island much more in the near future as it has several more possible very cool riding areas ....

We're hitting Leyte also and it has some good possibilities also for dirt riding ...

wow ..That is one small island ... 8 yrs is a long time for many to stay there ... Water and sand were probably perfect ...were there any locals ever living there?

The islands here that are that size do not even have roads or cars ... Just bikes and paths ..

Thanks and with or without customers, I'm on the tour ... We're hoping to promote the Philippines in this endeavor as much as anything ... It's such a great place to ride ... All this is pretty much all primitive and virgin riding ... ~0 hassles from anyone ... No real speed limits or off-limit areas but you are responsible for your actions ... In the MTs, only real traffic is very slow moving trucks, walkers, or the 125 bikes bumping along at slow speed ... Most hear you coming (ESP in the curves) and get outta the way or stop... The last thing anyone wants here is any crash...

If you notice, many trails in the pics are really roads with a beat out path the walkers and bike riders (taxis) take but once upon a time a dozer pushed thru there so it is wide ... MT roads are not maintained always (unless a need crops up for traveling a specific road) so they quickly get all gnarled out except for the beaten out, traveled path .... I just get over in the non-path-beaten-out-spot and ride lots... This way the locals are totally out of the way and I can blast by them in the rougher stuff, making motorcyle moves and giving them a side show ... You gotta be careful not to rock anyone for sure as they have no head gear and lots of babies here ... They like the show and just think we are crazy foreigners ...

Always gas sold somewhere at some small store close by, always food close, always flat-fixers around , mechanics are here on some scale... Someone is always around to help as needed ... This is why I don't mind riding alone here ... It's a 3rd world country and weak sometimes in comforts... But this allows for almost total freedom once out of the major cities...
