• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TR650 luggage options

BTW, factory offers some specific rear rack. I wonder how may that hold for a top-box ? I want to fix my box to the bike...

I bolted up a Givi E250 universal mounting plate to the factory plastic rack. I'll get a photo up later. I think around town it will hold up just fine but I am concerned that washboard/corrugated gravel, jumps, or prolonged high speed off road may be too much for the plastic. I also cannot recomend the Givi V46's UFO shape on the TR650. A buddy has an E52 Maxia that looked better he also has the larger Trekker top case and it looked too big. I'll try to remember photos of them next time I'm over at his place.

I'm talking about the rack mount on the picture - which is rather completely different to stock plastick rack and seems to be made of steel tubing. Thats what I need to add my rack plate and my alu box !

Exactly... I was hoping someone would state this.

While this has absolutely nothing to do with that specific item, the general concept of 'how well will things hold up' is highly dependent on 'how it is used' i.e. what the road/trail conditions are like.

Has anyone else ordered the factory panniers ???? Has anyone heard of an ETA on the factory bags......

I've talked to two dealers who said I shouldn't ever count on seeing the factory bags. I'm not upset. I think aftermarket bags will be better options anyway.

I ordered a set of Strada plastics because I messed up my Terra ones and the dealer said that they were DISCONTINUED in their system and only a few sets were still available! Hopefully KTM gets a source up and running soon.

I'm not a big luggage guy on dirtbikes, even when they have the subframe to support it.
I've used Dirtbagz Rangers and their duffel on my XR628 and LC4e for weeklong Baja camping trips, and don't like to pack an offroad bike heavier than that.

I still have the Dirtbagz duffel, and will use it with a set of Wolfman E-12 bags and a small Wolfman small Expedition tank bag.
Enough room to carry my NF Tadpole, BA down bag/pad, and the rest of my trip gear. With this tiny tank I'll probably add a Rotopax to the list for the remote sojourns.

I wonder what the legal implications are for Husqvarna if they never release the panniers, or any other accessories. The accessories list was released well in advance of the bike and I think people who have bought the bike have a reasonable expectation that Husqvarna will make them available, or arrange for equivalent parts to be made available through their dealer network.

I would reckon that they don't have a legal obligation to produce accessories. They do have a legal obligation to honor warranties and maintain parts for a certain amount of time (in most countries).

I think it's six years.... but I can't back that up.

There's zero legal obligation to produce anything for the bike.
How many VTEC Interceptor or first year Multistrada owners bought bikes with hopes of getting hard bags that didn't trickle into the system until model year two? A lot!

I'm debating hard between hard panniers or soft bags. I really like what Walter has done with these. They not only seem practical for RTW trips, but daily commuting as well. Still have to figure out that rack thing though. Luckily I've got a few months before I'm reunited with my TR. OK, actually its bloody miserable being away from it, but at least it gives me time for the aftermarket to catch up.

Those are sharp. I had Jesse's on an R1150GS Adv, but that bike spent most of it's time on pavement or easy dirt roads.
On a bike that might see some semi-technical offroad stuff, it's soft bags for me.

Well if the factory bags don't show maybe Givi trekker outback will.....but that's mid year....

My plan:

- Wolfman racks (full disclosure: my bike will be used for prototype)
- Seahorse 720 hard bags for commuting, any LD riding; use Wolfman kit to mount
- initially use Ortleib soft bags I have, but am looking at Siskiyous, Walter's (above) and Wolfman's

After the Cycle World test using Siskiyous revealed the melting issues, I am convinced I want racks for whatever soft bags I settle on.

Subject to change, of course!!

Just contacted Happy Trails and found out that the owner just bought a Terra. They are planning on making all their products for the Tr650!! They said that the side racks will be avail in about 6 weeks. More options are always good.

Well that certainly changes the game a lot. Happy Trails makes a phenomenal product.

Just looked up TR650 on Ebay like I do from time to time and looks like Gateway BMW has the rear trunk, trunk with rack, side bags and a few kits, skid plate etc.
Showing all available and more than 10 avail per item. Wonder what is up? My dealer can't get crap and they have all this stuff in stock?
