Dang Kjackbrown...! That is really nice. Is that a vinyl wrap? How did you get that on without bubbles?
Yup...vinyl. These parts were way to complex for me to do so I paid pro to install it. When I picked up the parts he commented that they were the most difficult he has ever done. He did not lay the vinyl as 1piece, but instead cut many pieces tofit certain sections and aligned the patterns perfectly. He quoted me 3 hours labor but it took him but it took him nearly the entire day. He still only charged me for 3 hours.
First, sorry for the thread jack. I think I have seen the placement of your PCV and Auto tune on the battery somewhere on this board (I think). Since I am new to F1. Can you explain a few things for me? 1. Does the factory ECU stay put or do these take their place? 2. My bike has been MOSS'd, I still have the lean stumble and have a spoofer ordered. Would this eliminate the stumble or is that a completely separate issue? 3. I understand you can change maps and I understand the general premise but I don't understand if you download maps or let the Auto Tune "learn" what the engine needs? Thanks in advance
1. ECU stays 2. All of the spoofers seem to "fix" the stumble 3. The maps get you about 98% to where your fueling needs to be. If all TR's were set up the same, the elevation at which you live is going to be the last 2% and that is where the A/T comes in and takes care of it. The other spoofers are okay in that they help with the main issue....adding fuel...but they (blindly) add it across the entire fuel curve. The PCV only adds it where you tell it to and if/when you install the A/T, then it adds fuel only where it is needed. For the majority of everyone out there the spoofers are good enough for them and them. Me, I do not mind paying 4x the cost because I know that no matter where I ride (I easily can go from 300' to 10,000'+ in any given ride)
Thanks for the information. So, if you are using a spoofer you shouldn't be using it with the PCV and Auto Tune?
A little preview of what Ive been working on. Matte military green vinyl by 3M. Ive completed the project but have been side tracked by a busted pipe in our house which flooded my garage and basement. Ill try to post better pictures once I get a moment.
Fair enough. I am not a fan of military "theme" bikes at all. However, a couple of flat camo parts on a dual sport works well. RuggedExposure's bike looks awesome in the desert camo. I'll keep mine all black for now, mainly because I KNOW that I don't have the patience to vinyl wrap my panels.
Yep, I like RE's bike too. I'm a tad bit OCD so wrapping my bike with vinyl would be an excercise laced with a tall bottle of Jameson's.
A bit better picture, had to move her inside because my garage is being repaired from flood damage. (Atlanta isn't a good place to leave a motorcycle parked on the street )
After the wreck started rebuilding and green came to mind. It's just green plasti-dip so will be easy to repair or take off. My last bike was an FZ8 that I did with the flying tiger theme. Decided to go it again. Still waiting on parts to finish it. I like all the ideas that you guys have come up with.
Plastic dip? You mean like the stuff you put on tool handles? How do you put it on evenly? I like that flying tiger theme. I saw a couple of Vstroms done what way.
It comes in spray can form, or you can buy the big cans and use a HVLP gun. That is how I turned all my white parts black. Just multiple light coats, with about an hour to dry in between.
