RD5 was really smoking in the RedBud moto 2 race so I'm not surprised if he wins both motos today ... I think he knows that the only way to the championship over the other Ryan is to pressure him into mistakes and wins most motos the rest of the yr...
The track was watered perfectly it seemed... Tomac in the first moto... Momma dressed the boys in neon green so I wouldn't loose them as easy... Such a great idea!! My fav pic of the day.
It was quite a day. Morning overcast for very comfortable temperatures. Attendance surpassed last years 28000+. The Peterson Cat folks do a great job on that track.
Moto 1 RV started 5th and came up 2 seconds short of running down RD who rode out front all the way. Moto 2 RD and RV 1-2 at rhe start and it didnt take long for RV to pass and build a safe cushion. JS had solid #3 rides but the Ryans are on another level. Tomac was on fire. Great starts. He was floating where others bounced and skipped. I would like to see lap times because Tomac looked faster than RV.
I watched the RV/RD pass from my flagging position and from my perspective after RD dropped back about 2 seconds (took a couple laps), when they both came into my area they were within a few feet (40-50) of the same distance apart for the remainder of the race. But yeah, how about that Tomac! He did have a very close call with a wobbly front wheelie though in the last lap of the second moto with a comfortable lead. Many good highlights here: http://www.allisports.com/motocross/event/washougal/video/tomacs-near-fall-moto-2-washougal
We timed some of the laps. both 250 and 450 leaders ran 2 min 11 sec to 2 min 15 sec consistently. I thought Tomac looked faster too. What a great day! We camped at Cascade Locks KOA which was a really nice spot...except for the coal trains every two hours laying on their horn. LOL live and learn. Stopped by Starvation Ridge, Eddieville, and the Hill climb east of Yakima on the way home. Fun trip!
I was at Washougal with my grandson. We had a blast. Visited the pits, got some autographs, and watched plenty of action. We watched most of the races at the 1st turn, just before the Hole shot line. A great spot for action... I happened to get this picture of James Stewart in the first Moto taking out some hay bales and about 50 ft of fence. He pulled it out. RV and Short behind him.
Ive tried camping upriver 3-4 times. Trains on both WA and OR sides....so I just got up early and drove from Eugene in the morning this year. The line to drive in was the worst I have seen it, which is one advantage of coming in from the east if you take the shortcut....I always leave that way and cross over at Cascade Locks.
We watched the first motos from the same spot....you shoulda seen a BMP tshirt with straw hat guy (me) and my Husqvarna tshirt wearing brother.
Cool spot huh? I have a few more action pics from that spot that I should post. I must have missed you. I was wearing my gunsight H baseball cap.

You gotta love the the 100% stupidity of all involved not to know what that device on top of all the riders is doing.
