• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Jetting question...when I was at the shop and about to take the bike home hit the button and kicked over without the choke....never bought a brand new bike before so figured that's how it should be..?

Shop indicated the stock settings: 6bfy44-73(haven't confirmed if it's on third position yet), 430 main and 37.5 pilot were on the rich side. My first thoughts were...well...new bike...run on the rich side...that's not a bad thing? The more I've read, the more I hear the bike needs air and will do the airbox mod by drilling some holes in the upper portion of the airbox. Any Norther riders in single digit celcius ~ 40 deg F temps at 3-500 ft elevation have some advice on starting jetting?

Not sure why I'm even bothering with starting this conversation because it is supposed to SNOW 15-20 cm tomorrow****************************************!! Probably just end up draining tank buying a battery tender and some bike armour over winter to get prepped.....going to be a long winter

Unfortunately have to go to an early Family Christmas dinner and it SNOWS TOMORROW ! Safe and sound in the garage :)

Was watching weather like a hawk last night and decided WTF.....get out there and burn some fuel....-9 C....quickly learned that anything in 3rd gear caused my eyelashes to stick together...FROZEN hahahaha..reason...couldn't find my contacts and all of my glasses don't fit in my goggles so...a spin with just the helmet and specs. SO......I was all in a TIZZY with all of this internet searching indicating the jetting out of the box makes this bike a piece of junk blah blah blah...Well now....either I have NEVER had any of my, now 3 bikes, perfectly jetted or this thing just loves the cool Canadian climate at 87 m..

Choke ON, gas on...push of a button and BLAMMO....warmed up and meandered around a little spot near to me to see if I was going to be contacting JD for jets and start whining and complaining about this expensive purchase..Well no need for that!!! THis thing was a beast and realized after half of the ride I was in map 1 which is apparently the beast...remember...I was only in second gear with occasional shifts to 3rd. Look forward to sharing some vids and more proper commentary once I can truly rip this thing in the spring.

So.....I look forward to keeping this little beauty tucked in for the winter on a battery tender and get my 2010 CR 144 all grip studded up and rip some trail over winter! Feeling relieved and super pumped now for next season.

LandofMotards,
No don't race. Unfortunately I don't even get out to ride as often as I would like. During the summer if I get to ride every second Saturday, I'm happy. Last summer I only made it to Taylor Park once but at least I made it to Moab for three days.
