• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

They look pretty good!
But once I really looked at them and saw oil on the shafts, the quality paint on the body and springs and how stiff they were I decided to investigate further.

Question?
I know I read somewhere that the rear shock bolts though BUFO are SAE NF.
I thought I read it in one of the Husky news letters or I am delusional?

Can you guys confirm this? I measured one of the bolts and it's 3/8 inch (.374) and far enough from 10mm to keep me from assuming it is 10mm.

I'm very happy I get to contribute to this build as I like the older Husky's, and MarkVmod0 is a cool guy. Here's where I am with the shocks at this point. Total rebuild on the bodies and corrected the problems, machined and drilled eyes to the correct spec and width, and re-plated the other parts. I did find the correct springs in my stash and stripped and painted them so they are drying. Should be ready to ship first part of next week.

You might have to put that bike in your living room wrapped in bubble wrap!

That bike is going to turn out nice! Now, you got to starting looking for some more Husky's !

I think you should restore one of each color!

That would be the right thing to do with this bike but it's not happening. I plan on riding it and perhaps even trying my hand in a vintage race.

Once this 450 is done I will look for another husky but I do have to get back to my CBX restorations.

correct mate, NF thread.

I think I will clean the remaining chrome coating off the slide and try some cerakote on it.
Cerakote will tighten up the clearance and add some wear properties and I have nothing to lose if it didn't work since I bought a replacement one. Idle time is very costly!!!

A new slide from the Bing Agency was $120. Looks CNC machined.

I finally have your shocks done. The weather around here was nasty and I painted the springs the first time and they dried funny, they didn't come out the way I wanted and I had to strip them and repaint so I am a couple three days behind on getting them back to you. I may ship tomorrow or this coming Monday. Here's where they are at this point. I like them.

Thank you Scott! Those look awesome!

A far cry from what I sent you.

I better get cracking and get this project done!
