• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1973 Husqvarna 250WR

I think it looks fantastic the way you have it. I like the way the 73 Huskys look with the smaller later style CR tank like you have it.

The only difference between this bike and the CR250 is the motor number. The WR has a big tank and silver legs and the 450 style pipe and it won't get these Ohlins rear Shocks. Unless I find another set cheep. I could leave the bike the same and change the motor to the CR. Either way this is really 2 bikes that need to be separated. I haven't made up my mind yet!!

I haven't been able to find another set of the 4 dimple lowers. But I do like this bike like it is. So I'll have to build a CR version too!!

Yes the later 1" longer fork lowers.
I see one on ebay but 250$ for one is too much. I was able to use the new stations from DC Plastics and they seem good.

Do you have the hardware to mount those longer sliders, e.g. large spindles, 8mm bolts, longer springs, etc? If not why not just use the earlier black forks. Theres far more of the older ones out there and you have to look real close to tell the difference. Unless I'm mistaken, the longer sliders are actually only 1/2" longer.

FYI, Husky Club Letter #38 has a chart with all the part numbers for 1969 - 1977 forks and their internal parts. The valves that come with the DC tubes won't work with the 77 spindles, unless you have some 77 valves in your Husky stash.

Yes I have been consulting the Husky Club Letter #37.
I have the spindles w/ bolts and bottom and upper washers and the valves, I don't remember if my DC tubes came with valves. I seem to remember they were just the tubes. I have not measured the springs either. Got a lot of other stuff going on here too. I have a complete set of the 76 forks and WlLL probably defer to them for the next build. I got like too many!! Hahah More Inspection Is Required. Thanks Daryn!!

So I got some time today and was able to rotate the shocks but still too close.
Also got the chain on.
Also got the fenders bolted down
Also got the ignition and kill switch wired and tested.
Also Tank and petcock installed.
Also the exhaust mounted. Had to make a new rear hangar.

I don't think these Ohlins shocks are gonna work out. Too close to the chain even after flipping them. Even the shocks it came with had some pretty bad rash. I'm leaning towards a set Of Vintco Air Shocks. I can always sell these to soften the blow!!
