• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1980 WR 390 Rescue...

I know that they can be made because that is what I am doing with my set. I am talking about OEM product from Ohlins. Anything can be made if you can do it or pay to have it made.

That is what the guy at Husky club does he has them made with modern materials.

ss braid would be a nice touch. likely not needed, but would be cool

The SS braiding is likely too stiff IMO. That is why they used springs for a protector originally. Plus the braid would be a PITA to clean once it gets dirt and mud in there. SS is nice for a show car or Harley that never sees rain but in the real world not so good.

i wouldnt say that, its excellent for brake and clutch lines due to its ability to resist expansion and improve feel/function. its all swedish husqvarna used for its front disc brakes. no problems keeping it clean. it flexes quite abit being that it moves along with the front forks. its also used for rear brake lines once husqvarna starting putting disc in the back. so the "real world" comment is false. for bikes that come with plastic tubing material used for brake or clutch lines, stainless braid is sold for an upgrade.
i cant say whether its really needed for your application however.

I do believe Mark and Anita at 'CCM Britain' have made the tooling and fittings to replicate the correct Ohlins hoses. Even down to the wire spring protectors for the hoses.
Send an email to info@ccm-britain.co.uk
Let them have the total length of your hoses.

I have not even ascertained whether I need hoses or not... I see a few crack through the spring on one hose but no sign of leaking.
The nasty looking area on the one hose looks like melted plastic... Perhaps from the side panel being too close to the exhaust.

It's OK SDR, we'll spend your money for ya.

Hey, I have no problem spending money and time... If need be and wisely...

Last Winter I put two sets of tires and tubes on our 650 GSs along with chain & sprockets on my wife's. Steering head bearings and fork service on mine plus F & R pads on hers. Oil & Filter on both along with valve adjustments... 2500 miles later we traded them in:confused::excuseme::thinking:

Someone got a couple of nice bikes ready to roll but oh well. Timing was right for new bikes and the trade in offer was decent so there we go.

Yes , any shop can make the hoses but they have a hard time getting the correct end fittings right. The hoses usually break down inside first and look fine or a little weathered on the out side and if you rebuild them that way the compound on the inside starts to deteriorate because their 35 yrs old and with any use they contaminate the whole system. The ss braided hoses have a clear hard coating over top the braid so dirt and what not cannot get embedded in the ss braid . If you want them top notch send them to Drew and they will come back with new hoses.

Spent some quality time with the old gal over the past few days...

It's been 35+ years since I usedwrinkle finish but I figured it would be a good choice to hide the dents in the speedo bezel that I couldn't get completely out...
I'm pretty happy with the results.

Cleaned and painted up the engine also... I didn't go hog wild on prep just cleaned up the chipping and rough edges... Didn't come out too bad.
