As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
the big front sprocket is Baja desert stuff eh....
a 17t?? yeah pretty extreme...or a dual sport.. im not even sure about thatthe big front sprocket is Baja desert stuff eh....
True, I had hoped for a response by now, I will wait and see if anything comes of the second email.
I don't think Paypal offer protection for non Ebay purchases, does that sound right? Anyway, that is a last resort, I'll give them ample opportunity before going down that path.
Has anyone else bought the Athena gasket kit? If so was the head gasket included?
Tony.
For what its worth I bought an Athena "complete" gasket set about 5yrs ago for an 88 YZ250 and it was complete except for a head gasket(two O rings on this model) Even with cars in the UK you have to double check that a head gasket is included and that is with a top end set!
I bought several items from them a couple of weeks ago and also had a query on one of the parts. Got back to me next day with the answer and the complete package arrived within 3 days. Very professional I thought.
It wasn't a gasket set so cannot answer your query but it seems strange that they haven't replied.
Thanks and good to hear Autopilot, the strange part about this story is that I questioned them prior to purchasing about the 430 head gasket fitting the 400 and they were quick to respond, the correspondence went:
Hi, I have several items in my cart, one of them is a gasket kit for a Husqvarna 430,450,490 and 500.
I have a 1988 Husqvarna 400WR, do you know if this kit will be suitable without lowering compression too much? If so, do you have a kit to suit my bike?
Regards, Tony Brown.
Hello, yes it fits too because lower end is all the same. Best Regards, Andre Horvath
Thanks for your fast reply, I was concerned using the 430 head gasket in a 400 could cause issues since the parts book shows a different part number, do you sell the 400 set or 400 head gasket?
Regards, Tony Brown.
sorry we do not have the head gasket separately. Best Regards
Andre
So the seller obviously didn't know that there was no head gasket included in the set either or he would have said so from the beginning, this is why I believe it is not the seller's fault. If they could just answer my emails I wouldn't have to ask people about their reputation, but thank you for your feedback, good to know they are professional.
Tony.
im guessing 8k or so? maybe less? the 500 about 1000 less too.
