  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 te 449

Nice, keep it coming. How is the power compared to other 450's you have ridden?

Power: My feeling is, that the power is "more than sufficient", but then again, I'm not that good. But the +3 times ISDE guys I ride with, have the same feeling. As mentioned before, I'm more of a 250 guy i the narrow rough terrain.
Long term, I have only ridden my old 2004-Te450 where the power can be difficult to control, and after some time out there, you feel your arms are getting longer. On the 449, you don't get this feeling, because it it so easy to control the power, it just so precise in the throttle control. this is the part that is difficult to measure, or show on a dyno. But you feel it instantly!.

I'm a mechanical engineer, and work every day with torque, power, RPM etc, so I'm more than familiar with measuring /calculating these things.

Some of the other guys ride new KTM's:doh: and their 09-450 is quite good as well on the throttle, this one is just a little more precise. The official presentation from Husqvarna (for dealers) says the power is about the same for the KTM450EXC and the TE/TXC449. But again, max power is just a number, not a feeling! Remember 250 - 2 strokes from the 90's? Power yes, controlability NO, nada, zip, keine, nothing! Like having a 2 way switch.

Looking at the pictures from ISDE (nice), you will see the headlight fairing is not standard, the ears on the side are gone! Can be cut of with a stanley knife. And then they have the all titanium Acrapovic, which is +1000 euro.

When it's comes to styling (which is stupid on a enduro bike) 2 of us have now decided to change ours to the 449 prototype in black style /Salminen. Lets see..

P.S: For winter use! Just got info on TE/TXC449 + spiked tires. You will need to install a spacer on the bottom of the rear shock, that lifts the spring up + mount a TC tank! Code number for complete assy is: 8000H6366 Don't know the price yet. It seems the spikes can get in contact with the shock and tank. Seems a little stupid, to be honest:confused:!

P.P.S. Still no rekluse ready. "Springtime" they say

Thanks. thats what I feel about the new Bergs, the motor overall power is the same as the rest of them but controlling and modulation are superior, was hoping the same for the new 449 which seems to be the case.

How are air filter changes?

Overall ability to work on it / ease of service?

How does it turn / what bike does it turn like?

Thanks for your time.

nice bike. bet it rips.

but what are we gonna call it? a huskabeegeemerva?

im so cornfused! lol.

This is in deed a Husky. Yes, the motor has been sourced from the outside, but not before it came back from R&D in Italy. Yes parts of tghe rear suspension, also came from Munich, but again, they have been taking the current experiences, and rethinking things over again, with a different approach. The current 450 motor was not youngest on the market. Actually the same as my old 2004, with minor modifications. Here was a chance to upgrade on something else, which in terms of cost, was much more accessable, still with their own fingerprint on it. Is it better than any other 450? I will / can not be the judge of that. But improved, yes it is.

What is a HusaBerg now a days? A modified KTM? The 2-stroke Husa is how much KTM? All manufacturers are using sub-suppliers like KYB, showa, brembo, magura, excel etc. Some manufacturers were using KTM engines until last year. The feeling of the bike is how it is all assembled, especially with the frame. It may seem less important, but is in fact the back bone of it all. And Husky knows how to make a frame!!

The feeling is different, so overall the changes are noticeable, especially when turning, and going slow. It is more agile, and "small bike kind of".

Not much service, yet.
Oil filters /oil changes like most other bikes.
Air filter: Need to take the right side off, and the pull the filter out from the side. It's in a box, like on a VW Golf, and is locked. It may seem like more work than before, and I suppose it is, since you need your 8 mm top wrench to remove the panel, compare to just turning the seat lock. So 1,5 min. of your life. I have never changed air filter in a race, but maybe some do?

Hey guys , I have a TE 449 on order .......
Made test ride here in Greece and bike handled fantastic **************************************** Engine wise you could get good power with out feeling your hands getting longer and giving you that tired feeling , frame was fantastic, really good breaks , very controlable under you.
I have/own a KTM EXC 250 2stroke bike and where I go riding every weekend , I came up with a motoreporter fm magazine MOTO by coinsidence testing the bike on the track.
He owns and races a Beta 450.
I asked him and he said that the bike is fantastic , superb........

Although I have some queries ???
I attended Serres enduro race last August here in Greece.

I heard many roumers ...... like Juhas bike had many problems with EFI injection and was running on FCR carb ???? Also that the engine parts internal are fm BMW G 450 X ????
The truth is that the new Husky bikes were hidden at the back of the paddocks.

When are these going to hit state side?

I have had one on order since i saw it. Told first of the year for west coast. Maybe sooner but not holding my breath. Does not make a huge difference for me because the weather has turned. I typically use my old thrasher bikes for the snow / slop.

Well that sucks, that means that parts will be even later getting here. I need a seat for one to make a mold from, want to have them available soon as I can. I had to order the 630 seat and wait for a couple of months, none where in the states, and the bike had been on the showroom floor for quite a while.

I would bet you could order it from Europe. Maybe these guys (CH sponsor) could help?

We get parts shipped to Canada direct from IT. They normally take 1-2 weeks to get just about anything that is on b/o in the USA. I am not trying to solicit US business but dont be afraid to call me if you are in a real jam.
