  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE449 Power up?

Hi Mac, I'm in Tassie, just wondering, if you don't mind, how much did the re flash to map 3 cost you? My issue is hard to start after a stall/relatively easy to stall, and throttle run on. Some of the other blokes on here suggest map 3 cold help solve this stuff. Cheers, Mick.

Hi Mick. Cost me $120 but they wanted to have the bike there as opposed to just ECU. Have you tried TPS reset procedure on your bike?

Pic of the Touratech map switch, their site says order in, but that took a while 3 days to get one.

Above the little fuel tank, next to the throttle body;

Rarely gets used but it's there because I like shiny things....

Does this plug in directly or do I still have to splice it? Thanks!

Direct plug in, cables only short though so not many places to mount it, but where I have it is recommended and well out of harms way.

Hi Mac, brand new bike, only 1 ride old, so am still boning up on the maintenance side of things, I've always worked on my bikes, so this one will be no different. Is there a link somewhere on here to a manual for these 2013 449's? If it is easy to do a TPS reset, then I'd definitely give it a go, because I thought from the outset that was the issue. I have it booked in for its first service on Monday all the same. I'll see if the dealer will chuck in a map 3 for me!

alright guys this is the first time of me posting anything on this page, I have a 2013 TE449 stock and it stalls quite a lot on the road, so the deal is to get the map2 and should take care of the stalling thing right? leave the map1 for gas saving with the switch? (this is my first bike so I don't know much about bikes but I like riding and I think I can do any mechanical job) also I am planning on changing the rear sprocket to a 48T, is that right or am I missing something?

I'm amazed at how hard it is for most dealers out there to update the mapping, I guess I'm just spoiled by having a dealer that does it as part of routine servicing, even does it as part of the pre-delivery on new bikes.
