As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Have fun, I will be riding somewhere tomorrow, but that is the great thing about a dual sport, I can ride to the fun.
#3 sort of not right (close). The maps loaded or flashed si a "set" of maps. Your switch will toggle between the "set" of toggled maps.
Also, don't forget the JD Tuner - that is similar (in some ways to the PCV) but breaks the "digital jetting" back into something that we are more familiar with ie pilot, needle and main. I know several folks that run the JD on Keihin EFI bikes and really like it. With some fine tunign they are very happy.
That being said, all I did is have Map Set 3 loaded by my local dealer (they referred to it as "BMW Race Set #3" - not sure if that is the proper verbiage) and cannot imagine running anything else. The bike is flawless. I guess fuel consumption could be an issue if you were trying to squeeze > 80 miles out of a tank - then another map would be nice.
Tom good luck with the install. This is really a fun bike.
Me and my buddy Jim (He was riding KTM 530 exc) put in 30 miles of hill climbing, water crossings, and just some awesome trail riding by Canyon Lake. I changed my rear sprocket to a 48 tooth and the bike just pulls now, not that very short powerband that drops off. I thought I would loose my hill climbing, lowend torque, but did not loose a thing this bike is awesome and with the oil recirculation, less vibration, easier shifts an just smooth power .
I am lovin' this bike.
I add a quick clip of climbing this hill and I was just shocked how the bike just pulled. Watching it does not do justice as to how steep it was. My buddy even decided to go the route that was not as steep. Anyway check out the views.
Nice video....I have never seen any documentation or any Tech support stating to fill with 1300cc's. Hey let me in on the secret!!!
Stay Tuned, next project is adding a TC449 Megabomb Header to my TE 511 with a TC449 Airbox.
Tom,Excellent video thanks for the post.
I personally wrote the breather vent instruction sheet. I was going to write one for my breather tank, but decided to try and let customers decide the best way to mount it.
