• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2014 Husqvarna line

So, I can go buy a 2014 Husqvarna WR250 that's made in Italy from a old Cagiva design for about $4700 OTD, or I can wait a bit and get a 2014 Husqvarna TE250 that's made in Austria, that's a Husaberg, made from KTM parts with a linkage for about $9400 OTD.

Hmm, think a TE is twice as good as a WR?

Let's see, both bikes have water cooled, reed valve two strokes with power valve and a 66 x 72 bore / stroke combo, steel tube frame, single rear shock, aluminum swingarm with linkage, 48mm cartridge forks, 21" / 18" wheels with Brembo brakes.

Hmm, can't be too much better.

Wait, I get a 6th gear and electric start for the extra $4700 OTD. Gee, what a deal!

You are not apples to apples here. I put these prices all from the same place, they will sell to me in a way that I can pay the sales tax and get signed up for property tax in another state so adjust to out the door as you see fit. I got the $8349 with bark busters and skid plate added elsewhere also but not the pay sales tax in another state part of it which helps in /is kind of necessary to get a plate to ride the thing on public land. They don't have any 250 two stroke huskies currently though.

2014 husaberg te250 $8349
2014 husaberg te300 $8649
2014 husqvarna wr 300 $5999
2013 ktm xc or xc-w $6599 250cc 200 not so steeply discounted though

my TC250 will look like this (...someday) :D

I apologize if this was already addressed but has anyone seen a plated Enduro in the new lineup? Are we stuck buying a 350EXC F if we want that now? Honestly, the only reason I bought my TE310 was for the proper title so I can trail ride legally up in northern Wisconsin. If this is it for the future Husky lineup than my goose is cooked.

My zip code put me in Peru. Lol
Looking at the dimensions for the MX models they are the same save for ground clearance and weight. The Husky is a little over 3lbs. heavier for the FC350 compared to the SX350. Bummer!

I've never been a brand loyal guy, but I'm having a hard time with this. It would be like Ford buying Chevy and sticking a Mustang emblem on a Camaro.

Drove them both and ended up with the Challenger SRT8 and I'm a Ford guy.

Well.... another way some may look at it is since Berg was part of or split off the old Husky...they are just back together again. Nothing we can do but buy what we feel is the best bike we can afford and works for us.

that's exactly how Pierer is framing the acquisition... i like the (purposeful) absence of the letters K. T. and M. from the statement below :D

A HISTORIC REUNION - TWO BECOME ONE AGAIN!

In 2013 Pierer Industries AG (Husaberg’s owner) bought Husqvarna Motorcycles - marking the reunion of two halves of the original Husqvarna brand of the 60’s and 70’s! For 2014 the ‘new’ Husqvarna Motorcycles brand returns to it’s glorious origins with state-of-the-art technology and the iconic Swedish blue, yellow and white colour-scheme. A brand new range of Enduro and Motocross motorcycles sees one of the oldest manufacturers return to the top of off-road motorcycle sport. In over 50 years of racing and with more than 82 world titles so far.... the legendary tale of Husqvarna continues!

Random thoughts...

- They look great
- Love that they all have linkage (super smart move IMHO)
- Where is the 200?
- I love the red one typeone shows above
- The 85 seems to have a radial rear caliper, interesting.
- The speculation was spot on (rebadged and upgraded bergs)
- The old huskys are dead and we now have KTMs
- The prices will be $2000 plus more than we are used to paying
- Lots of KTM dealers at least in my area are snobs and sometimes even assholes
- This should have been first but did not want to lead with it... I hope great dealers like Bills and such as not bullied out of carrying them with the strong-arm tactics I have seem make good KTM shops disappear
- Will there be DS/SMR model "huskys" ?
- We really have one less choice now not one more
- Bet the bikes are very good

If anything, Bill's is likely to take whatever they throw at them and some of the less professional dealers will fall by the wayside. If every KTM and Husaberg dealer in Oregon is allowed to carry both brands we will be saturated....much as happened to KTM in the past.

From what I understand from previous posts, the Husaberg dealers were going to carry Husky & Husky dealers were gonna stay on, but KTM dealers were not automatically gonna get Huskys.

Let's just say that there are many methods for 'adjusting' who and where and how many the dealers are..
