i believe i have .45 springs in my 04 te450. i still feel the front could use softer springs, the slow speed single track rock hits are pretty brutal. i've adjusted oil level and clickers as far as much as i can, i think lighter springs would definitely ease the hits..
i'm 180lbs - would .42 springs be too light? i'm riding mostly trails, enduros, general screw around stuff. 99% very hard surfaces (a lot of square hit/large rocks, etc. stuff - i replace spokes all the time......) not much jumping/big air stuff on this bike... (that's what the little bikes are for...)
