• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

45mm front springs recommendation?

i believe i have .45 springs in my 04 te450. i still feel the front could use softer springs, the slow speed single track rock hits are pretty brutal. i've adjusted oil level and clickers as far as much as i can, i think lighter springs would definitely ease the hits..

i'm 180lbs - would .42 springs be too light? i'm riding mostly trails, enduros, general screw around stuff. 99% very hard surfaces (a lot of square hit/large rocks, etc. stuff - i replace spokes all the time......) not much jumping/big air stuff on this bike... (that's what the little bikes are for...)

I had the same problem with the 45mm Zokes on my '07 TE. ( I posted earlier with the same problem). I'm also 180lbs and ride tight woods.
Switching to .42kg fork springs (along with a good re-valve) solved the problem for me. The bike now handles the choppy stuff without deflecting and it has a plusher feel overall. No problems with the high speed stuff either.
I thought the .42's might be too soft but it seems perfect for my weight in tight woods riding.

huh? do you mean springs? i am confused.

How far do you have to pull the form down to see the size of the spring?

1) "Zokes" is slang for Marzocchi.
2) 45mm is the fork size

thanks, the forks have been revalved, i'll order some springs today. did you change rear spring also?

I use stock rear spring which is a 5.2kg. Works fine for me.
