• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 4CS Issues

KTM has single handedly built a huge suspension tuning market, first with the PDS and now this. They should just copy KYB components and be done with it.

Or just install the A-kit from the factory and be done with it. I really don't see how it could be that much more expensive if they mass produced the forks and shock.

Husky Power Catalog shows Cone Valve forks and cone valve retrofitting kit, for 4CS and CC forks. There are no part numbers and you are referred to WP Factory Services site. When you look on that site, there is only the complete Factory A-kit forks. There is no reference to retrofitting kit. Price of the complete fork without springs.... $3149

And the price of the 4cs are $2556.00

But they came on the bike already, so not really apples to apples. If someone destroyed their 4CS forks in an accident and needed to replace them, paying an extra $593 for Cone Valve forks would seem cheap!

I just picked up my suspension from MX-Tech. They installed what they call their 4CS Asymmetrical system. High, mid and low speed compression adjustments and rebound. Looks like I have some reading to do. I will post up some updates and pictures when I have some time this weekend. Jeremy says they have sold over 1000 of these kits to various tuners and it has been one of their most successful products. I even got some pretty stickers to go with it:banana:;)

So here's some fork porn:D

I've read this entire thread from the beginning and right now I'm feeling pretty good about the $500 I spent having LTR do my 50mm Zokes and Sachs shock on my Italian WR250 of which the entire bike cost $4,900 new in the crate. I realize that most every bike takes some suspension tweaking except maybe my son's 2011 YZ450 which worked pretty dang good bone stock. I've serviced them 3 times and it's really easy... Kelly has the right idea about KTM needing to copy KYB.

The a-kit "fork kit" is available, I called a couple different places and it ranged from $1300-1500 but then you need it sprung and valved for your style yet. You have to buy the entire rear shock, no kit. The fork kit didn't look to bad when I got Krefts quote of $1400 for full package.

Which places?

PG, and that Factory WP place out in California.
This is directly from the power parts catalog

"These parts are available only directly via the WP Dealer Network.
To find the right article number for your bike, visit the suspension
configurator at www.wp-group.com or directly search for your
dealer at www.wp-group.com/en/dealers."
I went to both sites yesterday and they only showed the complete forks. The suspension configurator at the main WP site, doesnt show '15 Husky models, so I used a '14 TC250. It only showed complete fork and price. Same for Ride PG site. What step did I miss?

http://www.ridepgsuspension.com/wp-cone-valve-forks/

or from the main site
  • Factory Services A-Kit Cone Valve Fork & A-Kit TRAX Shock
    • Factory Services A-Kit Cone Valve Fork $3,149.00 (SPRINGS NOT INCLUDED)
    • Factory Services A-Kit TRAX shock $2,000.00 (SPRINGS NOT INCLUDED)
At neither site can I find any reference to the cartridge kit or the pricing Chums mentioned. Any links to this info?

I think I remember running into all that now, I think that's why I ended up calling them in the end. I had to leave a message at the factory services place and they called back but I believe they were the more expensive one. Ring ride pg and that Bart (I believe) is the suspension guy who shot me a price, he'll try selling you on their stuff first lol.

The long and short is I'm glad after $1000 in work at local places who couldn't get it right I'll have usable suspension for under $300 from zip Ty and I'll have no regrets not staying with the original set up after the money and struggles I've delt with over this last year.

Thanks Chums. I doubt I'd go WP Factory A-kit, but just want all the options to look at. It seems like Zip-Ty is the simplest and least expensive answer. I feel bad, as the local guy I have used for years, hasn't done any 4CS yet. Most local fast guys are just swapping their CC forks, onto their new race bikes for now. He wants to do my forks, but hasn't a clue. I've watched more 4CS vids and understand how they work, better than he does!
