• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 4CS Issues

Norm, I thought you were happy with yours stock?
I am so far... Two things though... I need the bike lowered 1'' and the 4cs has a bleed hole, that makes it more involved.

I'm 160 miles so far and all good. I have been warned, that oil migration out of chambers, will cause the fork to be harsh.
If they are coming apart to get lowered, I just want to head off any potential problems.

I was hoping to have a few more miles on by now, the snow has really come and a horse misused me and my back is a bit jacked up. Snow Scramble on Saturday, so going to try and make that.

So does zipty, mxtech and Stilwell all put compression on top and rebound on the bottom for both forks.

As scientists and concerned citizens, we applaud the recent trend towards legislation which requires the prominent placing of warnings on products that present hazards to the general public. Yet we must also offer the cautionary thought that such warnings, however well-intentioned, merely scratch the surface of what is really necessary in this important area. This is especially true in light of the findings of 20th century physics.

We therefore propose that the following list of warnings appears on every WP 4CS product offered for sale in the United States.

WARNING: WP 4CS Warps Space and Time in Its Vicinity.

CAUTION: The Mass of the 4CS Contains the Energy Equivalent of 85 Million Tons of TNT per Net Ounce of Weight.

HANDLE WITH EXTREME CARE: WP 4CS Contains Minute Electrically Charged Particles Moving at Velocities in Excess of Five Hundred Million Miles Per Hour.

CONSUMER NOTICE: Because of the "Uncertainty Principle," It Is Impossible for the Consumer to Find Out at the Same Time Both Precisely Where WP 4CS Is and How Fast It Is Moving. (Note: This one is optional on the grounds that Heisenburg was never quite sure that his principle was correct)

ADVISORY: There is an Extremely Small but Nonzero Chance That, Through a Process Known as "Tunneling," The WP 4CS May Spontaneously Disappear from Its Present Location and Reappear at Any Random Place in the Universe, Including Your Neighbor's Domicile. The Manufacturer Will Not Be Responsible for Damages or Inconvenience That May Result.

ATTENTION: Despite Any Other Listing of Product Contents Found Hereon, the Consumer is Advised That, in Actuality, The WP 4CS Consists Of 99.999999999% Empty Space.

PLEASE NOTE: Some Quantum Physics Theories Suggest That When the Consumer Is Not Directly Observing This Product, It May Cease to Exist or Will Exist Only in a Vague and Undetermined State.

HEALTH WARNING: Care Should Be Taken When Lifting This Product, Since Its Mass, and Thus Its Weight, Is Dependent on Its Velocity Relative to the User.

So does zipty, mxtech and Stilwell all put compression on top and rebound on the bottom for both forks.

I can only answer the ZipTy question.
My ZipTy 4CS forks have been reconfigured with both top adjusters as REB and the newly installed bottom valves/ adjusters as COMP. They are now basically a WP XCF-W or XC-W set up used on the W versions of the Katos.

Zipty- comp on bottom/ rebound on top

Kreft- high speed comp top of one fork (could be low speed, unsure)/ low speed comp ( bottom of both forks, unsure if this is high or low speed)/ rebound top of one fork like stock.

Kreft ( last I spoke)- moving towards comp on bottom/ rebound on top. Realized it can be better this way but this may have changed in the last month.

Mx-tech- installs base valves, has clickers top and bottom but don't know what they do. 1st time I talked with Jeremy they put high or low speed comp on bottom of both forks and tops stayed in stock configuration, this may have changed since then.

Chums, what did zip tye do for you for that price?

My 4cs are there now, they should be getting the 4cs base valves/conversion, valving, and oil in the front and valving and oil in the rear. My springs should be right so no cost. Comes out to something like $250... And im guessing I couldn't tell much difference between that and a $1400 job but that's just me.

Hi guys, first post here. Been following along for a few months. I bought a TE-250 back in August. Rode and raced it until December when I finally had enough of the stock suspension. I experienced the dreaded hydro-lock to many times. I decided to send my suspension to Kreft for the full menu. Yes it was expensive, but Adam will also do just valves/shims if you like. I've been riding Honda's for years before this Husky, and was ready to go back to red because of the 4Cs. Kreft transformed the suspension from dangerous to really good. I raced the National Hare & Hound in Yerington on the stock suspension and had a terrible race (over 40 amateur). After having Kreft do the work, I raced another same distance race over the same type of terrain and cut 40 minutes off my time. This bike is a keeper now, really happy with it. A riding buddy just sent his 15 Husky TE suspension to Stillwell so I'll get to soon ride that for comparison as well.

Chums, what did zip tye do for you for that price?

We make state of the art suspension without raping your wallet. If you wish to spend +$1000 dollars on mediocre machined 6061 parts, be my guest. Most of the suspension tuners down here use our valves, including ProCircuit. The only disadvantage to sending us your suspension is that we are slow. We get so many units, it's hard to keep up. We aren't a production line company, each set of suspension is carefully inspected and dialed by Ty Davis himself.

Welcome Zack. Glad you got it sorted. At first I thought mine was acceptable but after a couple months it started acting weird and I found myself on my ass too many times. I have high hopes and feel optimistic about this season.

We will see you guys next week--we have a 2015 FE350 that needs the LR, Robertaccio etc 4CS reconfigure treatment, this bike has a WP A kit shock on it, he needs the fork to match the shock in all its brilliance. Tues or wed early afternoon we will bring the entire bike (this is the newly equipped PC V FE350S and it has a WP Trax shock on it (without the Trax assy )

Went over to KTM talk and a lot of people seem to be loving kreft.. Anybody use him or Stillwell ?

I shot Zip Tye an email a couple of weeks ago regarding 4CS options for parts supply only, shipping is out of the question.
email must of got lost in the xmas rush

Just to be clear, turning a 4 chamber fork into a crude version of an open chamber system would not classify as state of the art (in my book at least) so I call BS on that comment. I have no doubt ZipTy knows Marzocchi and KYB and does excellent work and I am a huge fan but this thread is about the 4CS so can we please be serious for a bit? I was fortunate enough to have some $ stuffed away from a Christmas bonus so after talking with TY regarding my forks I decided to go the Asymmetrical route and see if the 4CS design can be improved upon without throwing in the towel. Hopefully it doesn't end up wasted money and if it does I'll buy you a beer Tinken:D
