• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

83 CR500, here begineth the lesson

Went for a visit today, exhaust been sectioned and welded to fit. Just nedds some work to route the tailpipe which I will do. Back tomorrow...WHOO HOO ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************!!

Its on ****************************************! Still needs a bracket on the top and the tail pipe cut and rewelded but the tank clears nicely. New weld really shows up the originals but its getting painted (white, oh yes!)

Fitted up the monster brake lever and it makes a real difference, pedal doesn't hit the footpeg now and brake goes on solid.

Very nice, glad to see you are back at it! If you don't have a Go-pro, please get one as we all want to see some action shots, smoking tires, etc, but please save any crashes for you other bikes!

Only managed an hour all weekend. The bike is still in limbo (hidden at work) until my house inspection is over Tuesday. I don't think the landlord wants a vintage supermoto in the conservatory, it can only improve the house in my opinion.
Still managed to put a chain on. Some clearance issues, needs a domed bolt on the brake arm and the chain roller needs 8-10mm.
Need to make up a chain guide too. Got some little sealed rollers on an order for that.

Will have to borrow a Go-pro until I stop spending money on bikes. I like the sound of smoking tyres, not liking those distanzias and would love to see them up in smoke, can't find a decent 140 though.
Looking forward to making a video of the country roads round the Cotswolds. Its so beautiful, through a haze of twostroke fumes with horses bolting all over the shop and local landowners loosing off 12 bores.

use a Button head hex screw for your brake stay, they have a low profile head, or your chain master link clip will keep popping of when you roll the
bike backwards  . Don't ask how many times mine came off before i noticed that was the problem  .

Wise words, turning down capheads doesn't do it really. Socket too shallow. Gonna have to get some in.

First pic is part of my 'one kick' strategy. From info gleaned from various threads here I reckon its a good idea.
I will be videoing the 'one kick' in the near future just for your amusement !

Next pic is my 'cool fuel' plan. Its called Magmashield. Never tried it but it makes sense and could save my paintwork and keep petrol cooler and denser? Another ebay 'one search too many' bargain. I like it though and the blurb says High specification composite heat shield consisting of aerospace grade polyimide film and volcanic rock . I am a sucker for a bit of volcanic polyimide ****************************************!!!

Kickstart stop with welding thanks to Jay-Mee, she apprentice welder placement by day and dancer by night !

Now the Austrian leg can go off for vapour blasting to match the rest.

My feelings at the moment...

Some day this builds gonna end ..............

I like the under tank bling Joe. But with the weather we've been getting it's cold and wet enough to stop any heat getting up there. Oh, and I guess you will be riding it fast enough to keep a good cooling airflow under there
It's looking really good now. Can't wait to see it finished. Tis about time you started looking for a CR or WR to come and race with us !

Sounds good, fancy an XC. Are you at Farleigh?

Fun stuff, being the doubter in the crowd, please give us a head temperature check and indoor/outdoor temps before the "one kick" is attempted. If I could be present, I'd be placing money on two kicks. :-).

No Farleigh for me. I used to enjoy racing there when the classic class was just that. Now that they have seen fit to fill it with a round of the British Championship Classic lot, it's not for me.
I won't be there either as I hate watching. I shall spend my time messing in the workshop at home and dream of owning a new Falk reproduction mudguard.

You will still need to remove any paint from the frame and engine to get a clean path to ground.
