  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Another one on the TXC310 bandwagon, yahooo

Ok, you guys with some hours on your 310s. Let's say I wanted to get some Husky parts b4 they leave my local dealer. What stuff from Husky would you get. What stuff have you needed. PartUnlimited will be where I get my aftermarket consumables, so other than plastics I can't think of much that would be needed. Will be getting more time on it the next 6-8 weekends, really liking this bike.........

I have not experianced "real" cold but mine fires instanaly at all temps even down to the mid 30s F. Are you using the cold start lever? Red lever over the clutch were most bikes have a "hot" start lever.
Turned out I had a bad battery. When we checked it, it only had around 8amps. They installed a new one under warranty. Can't wait to finally ride the bike once the weather gets better.

Spare Husky parts? Those little black radiator covers will break pretty quickly. I like Polisprt Sharp handguards which have been discontinued - cheap copies of the KTM all plastic guards - because they guard well and flex well which lets my bars flex as designed.

My "beater" bike is a YZ250. It is way more demanding to ride than the Husky which is the point. The YZ is lighter to throw around but the Husky is just as fast and requires less effort to ride fast over a long period of time - my "race" bike.

Glad you figured it out. My bikes with batteries live on a battery tender. I have a suzuki with a 7 year old battery that is still going strong. Like MikeB said the lower radator gaurds are fragile. Grease the linkage when new and lock tite all the bolts.

I have had alot of fun with my TXC on the motorcross track as well as the trails. It is a great bike.

I just ordered a set of merge racing RRS springs (MikeB recomended) the fork was great stock but does need a little more traction in the corners. Mine climbs out of ruts if I do not run the compression soft.

I will probably get mine done but Factory Connection. Only because i am such a lite rider.

ODI grips, their 4st KTM set fit perfectly on the 310. No more glue, no more safety wire. Have a set on the WR300, so wanted the same on both bikes. Skid plate & rad guards from Motsportz are also on. Did 1st oil change, had a tough time getting the screen to come out. Not bad though do have to scratch my head on whole hose barb thing......

Well the time may have come for the 310s 1st race. Getting broken in nicely & protection added. Motosportz skidplate & rad guards along with Cycras & ODI grips. Will be between 2 FTR HareScrambles so having the second bike works out great. Trying to figure out the logistics of a few of us FTR guys loading up & heading to LA for the April 14th NEPG round. I see Mr Vinduro is on row 8. Hope to say Hi. Will get some pics up........

Cool on the pics and good luck ... Seems like I do better racing if I can have fun and let the bike do as much work as possible ... And yep, a pic with Mr. Vinduro would be ESP cool ...

Well it's time to revive this old thread, looks like since I'll have an FMF system on the TXC, I may need the assistance of one of them fancy FI tuner thingies ;) Is one better than another? From threads I've read, the ibeat is only for the Mikuni? the PCV is adaptive but complex? & the JD is easy for guys like me? What about bazzazz? Cost will be some consideration, time to get this beast dialed in..

The JD tuner makes good power gains, simple to use (probably won't even have to adjust it with just an exhaust) and is very cost friendly. I have one on my bike based on recommendations and it works very well. Very noticeable power gains (or at lest for me it was).

Thanks for the info Connor. Saw ya had the JD, still not sure. Have some time to make a decision. Gotta bump up the race bike $account$ a little bit, haha.

This is kinda funny, now. I know I'm old & forget things & can't see as good as I used to, but this morning as I was putting the valve cover back on after checking valve clearances, I ended up with only one washer. Dammit!! I looked everywhere, the floor, the workbench, pulled the skidplate. Now I'm thinking about pulling the motor to make sure it didn't fall in the topend, & decide to get my 1million candlepower light(ok maybe not a million but it's pretty damn bright) for one last look around & there it is, behind the freaking starter. I'm happy as crap & frustrated beyond belief at the same time, there's 2 hrs of my life I'll never get back:banghead: On another note, putting things back together & my bling pile is getting smaller. This is my first brand new bike since '82 so it's kinda fun putting all this stuff on the great CH vendors have for us. I thought about making a list but I'm not sure I want to know, lol.

love to ask, when you have taken the txc out on a MX track, do you think the 6 speed box was an advantage or disadvantage ?? overall gearing will make a difference. sitting on the fence on a txc or a TC.. any input gentlemen ??

I find my self in 3rd and 4th most of the time at the MX track. There was one track that had a 100' table top that I had to hit wide open in 6th to make it which I am not sure that I could have made if 5th was my top gear (IN the transmission 2nd- 5th gear is the same on both bikes with the TC having a lower 1st). 14-28 on the TXC and 14-30 on the TC for first.

I do find that 1st gear is never used at the track with the stock gearing so a sprocket change could make up the difference on a TC if you gear it a few teeth smaller on the rear sprocket.

So I believe that the transmission is a wash at the MX track but the 6th gear is much better off the track.

Well, my summer break is over. Finally got some time on the 310. Saturday morn went to the secret DDR(daytonadirtriders) practice facility to put some laps in. Got a good 1.5hrs in on our 4 mile loop & the 310 performed very very well. First off it sounds "fantastic" with the FMF on. The spenders felt good, had a couple of flameouts but I'm pretty sure they were self-inflicted. On a side note, a club member with a 2013KTM350 decide to sell it & stick with his 250SX. He couldn't get comfortable with going fast on the 350, loved to ride it just messing around but the race results just weren't there. Will be trying to ride 1-2 times a week to get ready for HS#1 on Sep 8

Sounds good! Btw it seems that everyone that has tried the fmf 4.1 from ZTR says how good it sounds. So how many hours do you think you have on your bike now?

I have to say I like a 6 sped tranny everywhere, including MX tracks ... Just to set the table, I'm really a trail rider but I do go to the small MX tracks here and race with my friends ... I'm not a big jumper or anything and our tracks here are small but I do go around the tracks and over the jumps ... And I'm not nearly as fast as RV2 railing berms ...

For me, the 5 speds in my 2010 TC250s require much higher ground speed in relation to engine RPM before a shift can be made up to the next gear while keeping in the correct RPM pull of the engine ... With the 6-speed on my 08 TXC250, I can shift at just a tad less ground speed AND the engine RPM is at a higher place than the 5-speed so no power loss on the shift because I shifted too early ... Hope than makes sense ...

This same issue with actual ground-speed vs engine RPM really shows up in the woods with the 5-speed shifts requiring more ground speed to be obtained before the engine is at the correct shifting RPM ... I guess I'm saying 'the 5 speed is a faster actual-ground-speed-rig than I want' ... The 6speed helps me stay in the right RPM range and at a slightly slower ground-speed ...

Heres another point on that 6speed ...Bump that FS up 1T and the bike gearing will open up like a 5sped WR ... Feels much better on the hardtop than stock gearing ..

Hey Conner, I'm only up to 7hrs right now. I still need to change my coolant to EngineIce, & decide on a suspension guy. What was the ballpark on your suspension shipping to ZTR if ya don't mind me asking? (U can PM if ya want) or may check with WER or maybe ??
