  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Another one on the TXC310 bandwagon, yahooo

Well, my summer break is over. Finally got some time on the 310. Saturday morn went to the secret DDR(daytonadirtriders) practice facility to put some laps in. Got a good 1.5hrs in on our 4 mile loop & the 310 performed very very well. First off it sounds "fantastic" with the FMF on. The spenders felt good, had a couple of flameouts but I'm pretty sure they were self-inflicted. On a side note, a club member with a 2013KTM350 decide to sell it & stick with his 250SX. He couldn't get comfortable with going fast on the 350, loved to ride it just messing around but the race results just weren't there. Will be trying to ride 1-2 times a week to get ready for HS#1 on Sep 8

You got a cool bike ... You'll have to send out some videos for the sound effects if nothing else ...

Hey Conner, I'm only up to 7hrs right now. I still need to change my coolant to EngineIce, & decide on a suspension guy. What was the ballpark on your suspension shipping to ZTR if ya don't mind me asking? (U can PM if ya want) or may check with WER or maybe ??

Well I am pretty similar to you with about 8-9 hours on my bike. I have engine ice and used it when I raced quads but I would still boil it, and after talking to the Zip Ty guys I hear they probably have the best coolant, so if I was you I'd give them a look. As far as price goes its really no secret. All of their pricing is on their site. I think mine was around $420 or so if i remember right. Actually I haven't paid yet because they haven't got my suspension yet. It is still in route and will get there Tuesday (hopefully...). I am using Zip-Ty because I wanted somebody who has actually had experience with the husky's, not just a KYB fork and shock. And when it comes to husqvarna theirs really no one better than Zip-Ty for husqvarna know how. They ran husqvarna's factory effort for awhile on the West Coast so they know the bikes inside and out. I personally like Factory Connection for suspension but I choose not to go with them because they just don't do much with the husqvarna bikes.

Hey ray-ray, will get some video on Thurs or Sat. Hopefully will be able to upload it, haha. Conner, I was just wondering about the cost of shipping. I also wanted to use someone familiar with Husky plus a vendor on this site so ZTR is my 1st choice......

Shipping for me was $76. I shipped my forks in a hard gun case (if you have one it works very well because the case is padded and just the right size to fit the forks in usually) and put the shock in another box. I live in Maryland and ZTR is in Southern California and that takes 4 days to ship from Maryland.

Haven't posted here in a while. The FTR 2013/2014 HS season is done. The 310 did a fantastic job all year, the only time it screwed up was when it did exactly what I told it to(operator error). All I did was change oil & ride the crap out of it. Now time to get ready for the season opener on Aug 24th. One weird thing is it has developed a very small oil leak at the center case gasket at the bottom of the motor. If I need to tear it apart, the crank will go to ZipTy for the mod, & the head will get massaged. The suspension will get done(ZipTy) along with a gearing change. I need to run 13/47 to deal with the WFO pasture races at some of our properties. Only other thing will be a silicon hose set & engine ice or similar stuff. Had a great time all year & can't wait for more. Will possibly post my list of mods that I've done if anybody is interested.
And if funds are there, may throw on a Rekluse too. Love this bike.....

Get that bike to Zip Ty when the time comes. I just picked up my 310R (TE) at their shop yesterday morning and very impressive work they do. I had them do the crank mod, head mod with new valves, silicone hoses, front suspension, re-map and a few more odds and ends. They also found that the power up installation was incomplete as the restrictive air horn was still in place. Fixed. I'm running 13/47 too as a good compromise for trails and pavement to and from. Bike should really rip and I'm taking it out this morning to see how she goes now!

Ken, I wish I could drop mine off, LOL. I get to ship my stuff coast to coast. But I'm sure it'll be worth it. I'll have to talk to guscycle maybe about doing the tear down. I have a buddy that runs a porting shop, he can clean up the head for me.

Zip Ty does a lot more than porting! They replaced my light weight valves with Custom SS Valves and did some work on the head/seat angle if I understand correctly. The stock valves evidently stretch and I think I heard Ty say that they tend to recede into the head. The new set up should need adjustment a lot less often. And, I also had them do the clutch button mod, so I guess I went all the way, and on a virtually new bike!

I took a short ride this morning to go for breakfast and I am going to have to learn how to ride all over again. This thing feels more like a two stroke than a four stroke. Cruising down the road at a little over 50 mph and under 4K rpm, I cracked the throttle and when the motor came into the power band the front end got really light, and in sixth gear! Felt like the front end was almost ready to lift off. I'm going to have to be careful in the lower gears until I get used to wheelies again. It's been a long time since I had a bike that would pull up the front at will! Fun! I'm lucky that I'm only a days drive from the LA area, and enjoy driving. I took them a complete bike and got back the same so it was a very easy deal for me.

Hey all, just a ? about front sprocket removal. Is it normal threads or lefties? Didn't want to hammer it too much with the impact, ya know. Getting the last little bit done before the season starts again in 3 weeks. Time to go RACING****************************************!!
