• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I own one 1986 430AE that currently has a 1984 WR400 motor in it with the 430 auto top end on it. the trans shit the bed on the auto and I had an 84 WR400 that was sitting in the leanto behind my barn waiting for a transplant. somewhat of a FRANKENBIKE.

unfortunately the PO left the 430AE outside with the topend off and trans sidecover off. full of water and farm debris for a few years. i bought the bike and did a ground up restoration on it and decided to use the WR400 engine in it. with a few small mods like the swing arm axle bushings in rear of center cases and a alloy and rubber carb intake boot from Phillip @ husqvarna parts. crank and cases of 430AE were rotted beyond repair.

'84 500 AE. Did a ground-up resto, had Forrest Stahl do the motor. Now it sits in my garage, after having both hips replaced I am reluctant to kick start it. Maybe one day!

Not too much 500 AE in this list. It misses some OZ automatics.
I've heard that 100 x 430 ae were imported in Australia in late 80's or early 90's.

Michel, as a matter of interest how many different owners are there? It seems that a lot owners have several, it would effect how often they get ridden, hence the need for the elusive transmission spares

I know its been discussed before, but if we have the numbers I think we Auto owners-lovers should have our own sub-forum heading.

What do you think.....

Absolutely, us Auto guys need a sub forum. It would be a great place to collect all AE questions and info.
I know we have tried before to get it done... who has the magic power on CH to do it?
