• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sure did ,used a 1990's 4 stroke side cover and shifter fits right on, thanks to one of the members on here for the information, even uses the same cover gasket. Those bikes had a removable clutch cover so that gave me the clearance for the auto clutch other than having to use a longer bolt in the clutch throw out that was it . Works really well better than my exp. core 3 in my kt---.

their pretty close to the same its an auto [ think Honda Z50] but you have manual control if you want to use it

imagine bill, your in 4th gear on your 600 kato and you pull up on the side of a hill. no clutch to pull in. then you just open the throttle and motor off still in 4th. that's the recluse. you can pull the clutch in if the motor is revving but by just chopping the throttle and slowing down it does the postie bike thing when you stop moving...motor is idling

Ok what's a EFM CLUTCH? Explain?

What does a recluse clutch do?

They both have good websites, EFM will make you a bespoke one you just need a primary kick motor!
I assume Terry Williams has found a Rekluse from another model that fits a primary kick Husky, just waiting for him to explain what he did, hint hint.
I have a Rekluse on my GasGas and it is the dog's danglers.

how does the recluse go? work well with the big 500? how hard to fit was it and what recluse did you use??

The Rekluse is awesome it takes quite a bit of parts and labor depending on which bike you will be mounting it on I used the core exp disc This weekend I will post a parts list

The parts need for a rekluse conversion are:
1 core exp disc for kx250f i used one for an 2006
frictions from the same KX or better choice are Torq drive thin frictions from Rekluse
to install on my silver streak I had to swap the stock basket, primary gear, kick idler and kickstart gear for the ones from an 87-430
the kick cover must also be used this basket is steel and the kx250f disc slides right in.
the later kick cover is a must due to the large diameter clutch.
The other things to look for are the large steel basket in the 87 is held on the main shaft with a nut the older main shaft uses a snap ring. The snap ring works fine with the newer clutch but you have to add an extra washer to the main shaft to take up the extra slack.
Also setup is key I set the install gap at .035" using the internal clutch adjuster. I also add a shim between the adjuster and the clutch rod, I use a valve shim from a late model 4stroke to lengthen the clutch rod and make getting my install gap correct
this setup has gotten the acid test over the years Mike Melton and Chuck Sun have both raced this bike and if you know either of them give them a call and ask them what they thought.
For me it's the fastest 500 we own and with the Rekluse its also one of the easiest to ride.

Terry,
I looked up on the Rekluse web site and could not find the Core EXP auto clutch available for the 2006 KX250F. You don't happen to have a Rekluse part number do you? If I am reading this correctly you are using only the Rekluse EXP disk and torque drive thin friction disks and everything else is Husky?

Marty

I will check the year the barnett drive plates are thinner than the stock husky plates part number 401-48-041004 steel plate 1.00mm I will have to recheck the year on the exp disc We got them off the shelf at Rekluse.

The frictions are the same from kawi from 06-15 the way I confirmed fit was to buy one friction and install it in the husky basket. I will check for the Rekluse part number this week and post it.
