  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Beware all 13 redhead owners. Blown hose & more

Oh btw Robert, I took your SS filter you gave me and installed it in Ty's personal 310 yesterday along with our drain back kit. Works perfectly and has 3mm gap for oil to flow by. :D
dont even try to wind me up on this DEAD horse again!! hahahaa. PS send me out those 2 blackhead head alignment dowel pins dang it!! My TE310 buyer is on standby until I get the blackhead reassembled!! and my stainless steel SCOTTS filter is all ready installed......OK now back to the thread sorry for the hijack!!

Is the thermostat removable from the housing on a 13 TXC?
IDK, but my hose assy is hanging in the garage to check. But one thing the OEM hose has that attached bypass hose from the T stat.....I think that may make removing the t stat form the OEM hose assy a wrong move???

Ty's 310 is faster and can out climb his 630. We will be racing it this weekend @ GlenHelen Big 6 event.
you mean Ty is faster than me? and even his bike is faster and more powerful than mine? really? no way....

since the rebuild my TXC-R is really really strong and it really is hard to explain how much torque comes out of the little tiny engine.
Hey back to the thread at hand....

There is a thread on here from Kevin(Pvduke), where he shows how to remove the thermostat without buying new hoses. I will look up when not on my phone.

I only use 1 ounce of Maxilube per oil change. Do not add to cars with catlytic converters, kills them. It's a racing item and as you can see with Fire's engine, its not a necessity.

It is used by KTM racing services, they mix with Rotella T6 when racing. You can order from Chris Blais.

Its not snake oil. It's the same compound as ZDDP, but antimony is more reactive than zinc, you can see it is higher up on the periodic table. It is expensive and not used widely by the oil companies. Torco uses it in one of their fancy packages.

After engine started and cams look ok, I think, I ordered a CV4 kit. Looks like I can still use coupler for fan. That's good to know.
Maybe Tinken you can answer this. Bike was super hot and got stuck in first gear and no clutch for about 8 miles or so. When bike cooled it shifts easily thru gears without motor running. I'm thinking it was either the clutch fluid boiling or plates got super hot. Plan on changing clutch fluid and pulling plates from clutch to give em a good look. Also do you know if water pump impeller is metal? Don't want to pull cover if don't have to.
Also I'm torn on what to do with motor. Change all fluids a few times and run it as is or pull motor and send it to you guys to have a look at it. Ty said if it has compression and runs it's probably ok. Andy Jefferson said if cams are good motor is good.
Any thoughts?

I'd say it's officially broke in now. That was one helluva heat cycle sequence. Looks like you dodged a bullet. Good news:cheers:
