• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Booster Plug

I'm guessing the electronically controlled second butterfly valve in the throttle body.
I agree with you in that the idle motor/compensator could cause an erratic idle & stalling. Has anyone tried unplugging it? Obviously the engine warning light would come on.

I just ordered the Wuka booster and now patiently awaiting for it to show up at the door. My Terra has been Mossed by the dealer but it still wants to fall on its face around 3k. I'm really hoping this takes care of this issue as well as the occasional hiccup, cough, sputter and stall that still seem to be happening.

Why does it run better without the canister? I've had mine mossed and the Wuka installed. It seemed to be running pretty well until this high heat showed up around here. Now it's back to it's old tricks.

the canister has some stupid electronic valve on it that controls it and allows pressure to build up and then release. Dynojet found even completely stock bikes would build a lot of pressure and then release and could see it jacking the idles all over the place.

I am very temped to try that at some point. Maybe remove it all together. Might mess with it some day when I have some spare time which seems less and less.

I think I'm going to kick the can to the curb while I'm waiting for the Wuka to show up. Sounds like a plan.

Ok, canister has been removed. Thanks a bundle to High Five for providing such a detailed, documented procedure. Due to his post the procedure was straight forward, easy and quick. Removing the plastics and putting them back takes longer than actually yanking the can.

So I took the Terra out for a 15 mile test ride to see if I could notice a difference in the way it ran. I didn't have any hiccup, cough and sputter that so often happens but it's still a little dumpy around 3k. It doesn't seem as bad and want to fall on its face at 3k though so I think it was definitely worth my time. I'll know more after racking up some more miles.

Now I'm just waiting on the Wuka to arrive. Got my fingers crossed that it will cure what ails me.image.jpg

MPG after Wuka Booster Plug

Just completed a 430 mile, one day "Iron Butt" Cascade Loop Ride over two mountain passes up to 5500 ft elevation from sea level. All pavement. Winding mountain roads.
Weather: Hot - 90's (Red setting on Wuka)
Performance at elevation: outstanding. Gotta love fuel injection. The carb bikes struggled.
MPG: 62.5 MPG average; 64 MPG best

Comments:
I made the same run earlier in the year before the Wuka and got 58+ mpg average. To be fair, I had full camping gear and Happy Trail Teton panniers on then. No panniers this time. That said, the MPG is better than before Wuka, which surprised me. As usual, the Terra just purred along at highway speeds, even while climbing over the high passes. The stock seat was tolerable with my butt about as sore as if I sat in a folding chair for 10 hours, but not painful. I would say better than my KLR 650. I think borderline for a seat upgrade.

I installed a Boosterplug on my Terra and now its running as it should have done from factory. A real improvment of drivability and throttleresponse. The best spent money on the bike this far.

I mounted the booster plug. Actually performs the miracle, disappeared unwanted shutdowns. For the rest I have not noticed any difference. But I have a doubt, when it gets really cold, during cold fear too will enrich the mixture. This fear can do flood the bike. Some of you have already tried it with cold temperatures? However, I have assembled to see if the plug would solve bosteer because my mechanic told me that there was still a solutione by husqvarna. solution arrived by magic after threatening via email the parent. Friday will bring the bike to a mechanic then I will tell you.

megatiker, The current temperature here is 6C - 12C and the Wuka King plug makes a huge difference.
Is the huge difference good or bad? i.e. does the booster plug help or hurt?

(It is *real* easy to forget we are on opposite calendars with regards to weather)
