  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FMF Factory 4.1 on 2010 TC450?

AA Class
I ordered 2 FMF 4.1 slip ons a few weeks ago and much to my surprise, they dont fit. Not even close.

The muffler part is fine, but the mid pipe is out a good inch from where it mounts on the frame and it rubs the air box.

Anyone else have any issues with this muffler?

YES**************************************** I had this problem with my 09' TC510. I bent the original muffler and bought a FMF. Here is a picture of the mount. The muffler didnt even fit on the header pipe..Had a muffler shop spred the opening so it could slide on. Plus I use this funky spacer, the picture tell the whole story.
Also, bought an FMF spark arestor insert and it does fit either. FMF and Husky dont mix********************************************************************************

With that spacer, you're not getting any melting of the air box?

When I read your post, I ran out to the garage and checked my airbox out. Yes, I need to adjust my pipe away from the airbox and I am getting a small amount of melting. I cant believe I didnt spot that earlier. Thanks!
Need to fix before getting some real damage.

Hi guys,

I picked up my TXC 250 from FMF yesterday...

I saw a brand new 2010 TC 250 in there that they are using to "fix" the exhaust issue for that particular bike...Apparently they were told that the 2010 was the same fit as the previous models, so they built the exhausts with that in mind...They now know they were wrong and are working quickly to resolve the issue...The TC 250 I saw there was direct from Husky...

I don't have a timeline for the TC exhausts, but if you call FMF, ask to speak with George Luttig...He is like the head R&D guy there I think....

George gave me a tour of the shop, WOW!!!, Factory more like it....lots of employees turning out exhausts....Saw a certain bike manufacturers 144 2 smoker on the dyno...144 kit on this bike from the factory. might have another 144 player in the game for 2011...

Hope this helps, Mitch.

Can you take some pics of the exhaust? Did SSB do their thing on your bike yet?

I am just in the process of fitting mine. The mid pipe on the 09 mand newer are shorter do to the pipe Routing out of the header and the diameter of the pipe to fmf are the same went to a muffler shop and had them expand it verty carefully not to split the pipe. mounted it and rode it ran really well. Do to the bad fit I busted the mounting bolt and then proceeded to burn air box. I cut the mount bracket off and marked out where should go about 1/2" back 1/2" down with bracket mod I will post pics when finished. If you look at pictures of 08's you can see the difference. FMF made this for an 08

That's funny. They don't even list a pipe for the '08. Only '09 and '10. So, can I get one that will fit my '08?

I wouldnt even try FMF. My experience has been real crappy. But this is just my personal experience, maybe yours will be great.
The bad part is, you can through your dealer and they may say..."yes, it will fit fine". Then when you get home your screwed.

the slip on muffler FMF list for the husky 450's is the same part number.. for the TE, TXC and TC which is wrong the TE and TXC have differant header pipes and mid pipe to the TC.. someone should email Fmf and tel them that the pipe they have made is suited to the TE and TXC only!!
