• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I purchased a new te511 2013 from dealer......dealer put on a new fmf power core 4 slip on.....now bike runs like crud.....dealer said new bike has tight tolerance till broken in............but it wants to die out...........tinken here on this site was kind enuf to give me info......he suggested buying a black power up pin ...........I called up husky usa today and they also recommended this......
I ordered the part............part number 8000 h 5440.............it should be here in a day or two ...........i have no clue what the magic black pin does.......but I suspect it tells computer that the fmf is on the rear end?...............im frustrated cause I put a new pipe on a new bike and now I cant ride************************************************************************************************************************ doe anybody think a novice like me can insert the black pin onto bike myself? I think I better go to a dealer and have them do it.........I have no husky dealer in my city des moines iowa.............so the local dealers will be confused........does anybody have instructions on how to use the black pin??????????Im hoping that will help situation so I don't have to buy a power commander................the new pipe looks a lot better than the old pipe........bike looks killer stealthy cool and i like the red/white versus old yellow/blue.......cant wait to ride.........hope I can figure out the black pin...........tinken also said maybe turn the idle screw a bit.....hope this helps.....thanks to tinken for his advise............

Did you get a little bag of goodies at the time of purchase ? Mine came with bag of stuff which included the power up plug, owners manual, a nifty key chain
a usb manual, and assorted replacement rubber crap for levers on the bars.
So when you get the power up plug don't worry you don't need any special skills to install. Remove seat and locate plug next to top of airbox.

no I didn't get the black pin with the goodies. i would assume that a dealer that puts a new fmf slip on on........on a new bike would know about the black pin. the dealer did have one in stock though (the black pin) although the service manager is skeptical it will help...........im assuming you guys here know more here than some not all but some dealers.....thanks

I think it is a simple resistor that if you had the value you could make.

my new bike sits in the back of my pickup truck in the rain. as we speak. I have the black power up pin but have no clue how to put on bike. dealer doesn't seem to want to help much........so im screwed I guess unless husky usa will help. or I take it to a local mechanic and he can figure it out......I cant believe im the first one to put a fmf slip on on and have this problem.. hopefully husky usa will walk me thru this.........dealer is skeptical this pin will fix problem...........

Hello and welcome
The power up plug is simple to install. You will find all you need here and in the manual. You can even find your manual here. I will look for some pictures or take some if I need to. Look under the seat and look for a molex plug that comes from the exhaust sensor. unplug that one and plug in the one you just got.

doesn't it stink that the manual is online????????? I have to print out a few hundred pages to get a manual?

well another day and another day my new te511 sits in my driveway on the bed of my pickup truck with a tarp on it...........if anybody could post some pics on how I can put that black power up pin in to hopefully fix my bike I would appreciate it.......I cant be the first guy who has bought a new te449 or te511 .........stuck a fmf powercore 4 slipon on the rear end and then had problems with the bike just not wanting to start or idle or run correctly.........tomorrow I try again.........husky usa didn't want to help cause i altered the bike...........my dealer not sure about.........so now im a city with no dealer and don't know what to do ......i do have a fellow coming up from Oklahoma to buy my old te610 on Saturday and maybe he can help me............I really think their should be some postings here on fmf power core 4 slip on and that black power up plug............the point is that its so simple but I can t figure it out..........my local ktm dealer cringes when I speak the work husky to him........no help their.......if I have to I will put the old pipe on or buy the power commander......i cant keep the bike on the bed of my pickup truck in the rain forever.........I wish husky had dealers in more citys like des moines, Omaha, etc. maybe now that ktm owns the brand the company will force ktm dealers to deal husky too.........

I was headed for the garage to take those pics.

Thanks for beating me to it.

Personally i would put the stock pipe back on and make sure it runs right that way. For the street I used a modified TE pipe and off road the TXC Akra...switching doesnt have a dramatic impact on how it runs on my '11 TXCs

I really appreciate it. im starting to worry if I bought a lemon.......im not real handy with wrenches ....I understand your comment put old pipe on to make sure it runs good ........but c'mon its a new bike out of box........it HAS to be running good doesn't it out of box????? my gut says I can somehow keep fmf powercore 4 on bike.......this is beyond ridiculous.......I own a 06 te610 and yes it runs/ran fine......but lets face it the pipe on the end is ugly big honker thing......and I was reading these forums before I bought the fmf power core 4 slipon and from what im hearing 90 percent of people are going to these things..........the thing looks so cool on the bike.....and when I bought the bike at dealer I saw the pure dirt model 449 tc? model with the nice pipe on it.........darn it , its almost the same bike but they put the nice pipe on the tc and the crud pipe on the te? that almost gets me as mad as why they make a 449 and a 511 (bikes almost exactly the same except price).......we all know husky is putting that crud pipe on rear end to make the u.s. dot. happy...............if you could post more pics of this procedure it would be great.......im sure that with the husky blowout sale they are having right now...........that their are lots of people buying the te449 and te511 and putting the powercore 4 slipon on......I paid new for my pipe (250 bucks including shipping)............im not apposed to buying the commander thing........i just need guidance on what to do............if it aint raining I will go to bike tomorrow and try it..........I did look once and their is a square module with rubber covering of some sort......it looks like it has a latch on it......I couldn't figure out out to unlatch it..........THESE PICS HELP...........BUT THEY ARE A BIT GRAINY...........BUT WILL HELP ME THANK YOU VERY MUCH.........IM REALLY GETTING ANGRY AT THIS POINT.........HUSKYUSA WONT HELP. DEALER WONT HELP. LOCAL MECHANICS ESPECIALLY KTM DEALER SCRATCH THIER HEAD......AND IM IN A CITY WHERE THIER IS NO DEALER......THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I BOUGHT A HUSKY ......IM HAPPY WITH THE BIKES. OTHER THAN NO DEALER SUPPORT.......I HOPE HUSKY USA LEARNS THAT TO SELL BIKES YOU HAVE TO HAVE DEALER SUPPORT.....I HOPE THAT NOW THAT KTM OWNS HUSKY ........KTM DEALERS WITH BE FORCED TO SELL HUSKY TOO......

IT MIGHT NOT HAVE DRAMATIC AFFECT.........BUT ........IT MIGHT SOMEHOW TELL THE COMPUTER THAT THE NEW PIPE IS ON REAR END AND ADJUST AIR FLOW ACCORDINGLY? I FEEL LIKE I AM IN THE WOODS WITH A LEG THAT I HAVE TO SELF AMPUTATE.......OK. ITS NOT THAT BAD......I LOVE THIS SITE.YOU GUYS ARE LIFE SAVERS...........IF IT WERENT FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT HUSKY USA MIGHT BE OUT OF BUSINESS........

if someone doesn't post good pics of this procedure and what someone needs to do to make the powercore 4 slip on function well.......their will be other guys like me coming here asking the same questions over and over........hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get that plug in working......if anybody else needs one....heinen motorsport in Minnesota///////part number 8000h5440 the part cost $9.31 and the shipping was $10.00 (even though it came in an envelope...........IS THIER SOME REASON WHY HUSKY DOESNT GIVE THESE THINGS OUT WHEN A PERSON BUYS A BIKE.......IS THIER A REASON THIS PART HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER FOR A MONTH? ...........

I believe 2011's came with a box of stuff, the feds felt Husky was blatantly telling their customers to modify your bike (well duh),2012 came with a husky usb drive, a power up plug and not much else. I have the power core and power up, no problems.
You will get her going, chill and Ride More!

thanks for explaination..........now the feds are involved************************************************************************************************************************! in this fiasco......

now that im pissed I might as well mention has anybody ever ever heard of a street legal bike with no key???????? to me I can understand husky wants to shave a bit of money and weight off bike by having no ignition key but to be honest I tried to use the steering lock thing and its not particularly user friendly.....maybe over time (if I can get bike running) the steering lock thing will become easier......heck instead of using the steering lock I think I will just carry a small cable lock to put around front tire......I have to admit this bike has got me scratching my head. who to blame , the Italians. or germans?

husky usa , dealers and the feds must read stuff on this site.....I guess I have just voided my warranty............
