• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

GAS GAS FACTORY CLOSING - Official announcement.

I'm thinking this will make Beta much stronger and give the rest a nice boost as well. Ossa was getting parts or all (not sure) of their bikes assembled at the GasGas factory so maybe they will bid on the assembly line facility if it goes to auction.

From a trials forum, I read that OSSA was seeing increased growth a few years back after coming back into the market, and decided to merge with GG primarily to enjoy having a larger manufacturing facility/capability (i.e., what GG had) to help growing the OSSA brand with more units being built. Also, to share/develop additional technology with what GG and OSSA already had. Electric bikes, DI 2 strokes, chassis development, etc. The forum said that OSSA is planning on suing the Spanish government in order to extricate themselves from the GG liquidation, but OSSA management and manufacturing have become too intertwined with GG to realistically make that possible anymore. Plus, the insinuation by some forum members was that suing the Spanish government would be like trying to push mud uphill.

This text is from the US Importer for OSSA:
Sixteen months ago OSSA merged with Gas Gas. At the time the consolidation of these two brands seemed to make sense. OSSA had outgrown their production facility and needed a larger more organized production and administration structure to meet the growing demand, some government funding was also made available if both companies merged and worked together.
Now OSSA is aggressively seeking a legal way to remove itself from the Gas Gas situation, however this would also have to be reviewed and approved by the Trustee. Again, many opinions differ as to when and if this may happen with some people saying a few months and others saying much longer. As with Gas Gas we remain positive that eventually OSSA will produce bikes again.

Don't forget Jgas and OSSA. Speaking of OSSA, does anyone know where this whole mess leaves them? They were sharing manufacturing capabilities with that factory. I haven't heard how this all affects them.
I thought Jotagas was kind of stillborn and I honestly forgot about OSSA. Trials is fairly big in my area and we have one of the biggest Trials dealers in the country, the Tryals Shop. Everyone had great expectations for OSSA, as they were big in my area back in the day. The new ones never sold well, because they were more expensive than other bikes and underdeveloped.

Someone will pick up the GasGas remains eventually. Sherco may be the only good fit (2-strokes and trials bike background)... So we'll wait and see

I was informed by someone in the know.... that is where Sherco is "bidding" on Gasser along with another group from Spain.... The Spanish are not going to let Gasser go anywhere....

Clay should know, he sold GasGas for quite a while before switching to Sherco. Clay Stuckey seems like a really good guy. I hope he does well with Sherco, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a bike from him.

Got my info from Rod the GG Sales Manager..... Sherco is one of 3 bids.... I hope GG makes a comeback and changes management or they will be right back to this same spot in 3 years

Sherco owns Scorpa and they have gone from being two distinct bikes, to the same bike with slightly different specifications. I'm guessing the same model for GG, if Sherco buys them?
