• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky Trip to the Tip

Looks like past Visciano (on hwy food and fuel) about 1 hour to San Ignacio. Hope they get up real early as tomorrow is going to be a very long day to Loreto. About 90 miles out of San Ignacio 1 1/2 miles off the road is where the Cali Grey whales breeding grounds are. Later George

Are the time stamps on the SPOT site an hour off? Or are they finishing up their days after dark? Thank goodness they have a Baja Vet with them. I bet they are having a blast!

Time stamps are on target. Might be one minute difference because of Sat to Display. Looking good, but George said long day tomorrow, They need the Weaties early and get a move on.

Can anyone figure out how to get a 'scale' on the spot tracking page? e.g. something that indicates distance on the map?

Yes the quite probably had mechanical issues, tube?

Nope, I crashed...

And when they asked me my name I didn't know:excuseme:

Here's a couple more pics of the house.

Every living room ought to have TWO flat-screen Tv's in it, and at least one should ALWAYS have hockey on it!

Here's a pic of the kitchen... keep in mind that this dump is on a cliff that has a 180 degree ocean view and you hear the waves hitting the beach below...

The next day, the boys "claimed" they were tired and went to Starbucks where they wasted a bunch of time and a lot of money.
They had no idea what tired actually was.... I slept about 1/2 hour that night.

We're in San Ignacio now. Nobody's hurt and we're all in good spirits I think. We did have of do a long - COLD freeway jump last night and the guys on the little bikes were hating life.

I had a hard crash yesterday, and scared some folks, but I'm fine and having a blast. It's all part of the adventure I guess:busted:

I'm glad you guys found a place to stay last night... and of course a way to transmit to let us know how you are.

You had 2 bad crashes? I hope everyone is doing ok down there.

I've stayed at that house! Nice!

I'm good on the map scaling now, I'm surprised that the spot page does not have a legend though.

Having lunch in scorpion bay. With wifi, muy perfecto!

I'm on iPhone so I can't post pics except to facebook

I've only crashed once in Mexico, but it was a pretty good un

crashed last week too, both hard on the noggin which is why they were concerned

Mrs. Yo again.
Thanks for the pics! Very cool. It was great to talk to Yossarian last night, thanks to Skype at the B&B where they stayed. He's having a fantastic time, save a few hand blisters. The kids and I leave for Cabo early Fri morning, I'm so ready to be out of the snow and on the beach!

The spot is really cool. I get the emails and then google map (with pictures) the location. Nifty way to get an idea of the terrain.

Looks like going to make it to Loreto probably about 11:00. Coffee they took the right route thru the Mtns. another 35 miles then long pavement in. Later George

You're right George! They went the way you said they would.

We had a fantastic ride today/tonight.

This trip really is my first time ever riding at night.
I've only ridden on big rocks a handful of times (usually crashing)
An never crossed more than a creek.

Today we did all of that at the same time, and when I went up some giant staircase of rock I was moving to fast to stop and think about it. and I just went... So there you go.

We got in to Loreto a couple hours after dark, and had a good dinner in town. Staying at a way to nice hotel tonight, then off to laPaz tomorrow for New Year's
