• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I know it is a KTM but...

I vote for Husky's. Huskies looks sissyfied:) Like Ricky & Rickie. Female is ie] Get it! By the way female Husky owners, no disrespect intended. You know what is worse than a orange KTM ? that's an orange KTM 4 wheeler:D

I came pretty close to giving in and trading my brand new CBR 1000RR in on one of those 11' RC8R's....it is so roomy and real world usable while being quite trick to boot.....aside from the fact KTM dropped $6000 off the price of the 11' RC8R..thought it looked different and sounded cool..I dont mind orange and for the street..DIFFERENT

but cooler heads prevailed....as trick as it is with updates... the throttle is still touchy the gearbox is still notchy and although I could get used to it..it has always been near the back of the field in the literbike shootouts..think I better stick with my CBR

the 690 looks like the same deal.. COOL....but if it pales in comparison to the other supersports and costs a whole lot more....they will have them sitting in the showrooms a long time

Apparently KTM dealers have to take a few RC8r's with a percentage of all the XC,SX XCW's they sell....in some cases its caused a bit of friction

BUT by most accounts the KTM is very roomy and comfortable and has adjustable everything...that is the selling feature

BTW the 690 pictured above is a kit sold by Mototech that transforms the 690 duke into a sportbike

here is my super tiny Honda(with a trick exhaust kit and taller windscreen)

and the KTM is DIFFERENT and COOL

Ruprecht.........Ruprecht.........RUPRECHT! You've been leaving the cork off again, haven't you? Should you really be offering lessons on "Possessive Apostrophes" and "Plurals"? Best refer to an absolute authority... Wikipedia!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plural

Whilst I'd hate to come across as a pedant or plain smart arse, I can't agree that "Husky's" is correct in the context you suggest, i.e. as the plural of Husky. Indeed Huskies sounds correct, in the same way as puppy and puppies, country and countries and nappy and nappies.

But that's just the English language's take on it, not that of a "true Husky guy"...

But I did enjoy your rants!

Regards,
Russ
I understand, however when referring to the motorcycle brand, Huskys is Huskys not Huskies!!! Also I've been riding HUSKYS since 1987 (a 1985 125 started it all) Most of this in fun of course, however, yes as ya can tell I'm a anti KTM guy!! It may be Huskies when referring to a DOG!!! Da...........

dude relax already. Its just a bike. I like anything with two wheels and motor.
Dude right back at ya. Relax. I to like alot of things with 2 wheels and 4 wheels, Heck and I love Orange (On a 2012 Dodge Challenger!) It is mostly in fun. I have ridden the KTM's for comparison, they do not work for me! Someone has to bring havoc and mess with KTM. I stand my ground and have done so for a long, long time**************************************** But yea, let me take a real good look at that bike and see if for some reason my opinion changes, on second thought forget it.................................

Thankyou, and whether in a magizine or anywhere have you EVER seen em say Huskies, why no only Huskys****************************************!

Really don't get the anti KTM, or any other moto for that matter, sentiment. My KTM's have been awesome. Only have the 200 now and three "Huskys" in the garage, but until the 125/165 is dialed, the ktm gets the nod for the dirt and does the job well. It's just rolling around in the woods or maybe racing or whatever. It's fun and I like to take it seriously, but we're not saving the world here with our Huskys...

You guys are all to serious, hec and old Suzuki 250 is a good bike. They all are, anyone still in business in this economy has to have a good product or they are gone. No we are not saving the world with Huskys, but since it is america and we are all entitled to and opinion, which all people will never agree on anyway, I simply choose to and will always HATE KTM bikes. Yea I know they are OK, I'm not stupid, but there are guys who hate Huskys for whatever reason and I can respect them for their decision whether I agree with them or not. I also do not think KTM has made anyone push the envelope, every company out of comman sense strives to make improvements on their product. Hec when Ski Doo came out with the REV chassis they were already working on the XP chassis. Simply put I hate, ok for you crybabies DISLIKE KTM, ALL my kids DISLIKE KTM and yea I ride with some guys who ride em, but I do not hold back on telling them how I feel. Alot of dealers bailed on Husky for alot of reasons, but I was told by one and I will not say the place. They make more money on selling the ktm unit and because they are inferior to a Husqvarna they sell more parts. You have the right to post a pic. I have no problem, hec I did on the 12 Gassers. But hey you must be prepared to put up with the good and the bad and the difference in opinion from one guy to another. If you gave me that bike for free and I didn't have money for food, I would still burn it in my yard and cook some road kill over it! Am I a little extreme. Yep. Do I care. Nope. talk to your blue in the face. I will listen and respect you. But they are still a POS to me!! Peace out!!

The RC8 gets spanked by the competition. I don't think it'll be much different for the 690 SuperSpank.

Yeah, I "get it". Ricky Martin is your pin up boy... and Lee... and Gervais... :D

OK, when you both mount such compelling arguments, who am I to disagree?

You guys are all to serious
No I'm not - I'm offended! :). Serious is overrated!

Nope. talk to your blue in the face.
I know I shouldn't, but....there should be an apostrophe in "your", as in "you're", as in an abbreviation of "you are". But I agree, Huskies is obviously Huskys, or even Husky's!:D

Yeah, Ricky Martin is kinda cute, at least that 's what my daughters said a long time ago. Although I am an expert on the name because my mom called me Ricky unless she was mad & then it was Richard Dale Come Here****************************************:D That was 60 years ago & I still jump to attention when she say's it.

KTM's are great bikes. heck they all are. I appreciate the KTM has pushed the envelope so all must up their game.
yeah, I've been riding my friends 2012 350 XCW lately & it is really really good! But my 2013 will probably be a Husky unless something drastic happens next year. There is just something about a Husky that is hard to explain to others. They just don't 'get it'.

Not that this has anything to do with the original post but spell check will auto correct Huskys because it doesn't recognize it as a proper noun. Huskies is plural for Husky and Husky's shows possession so actually IMO Huskys is correct for the plural of the copyrighted name Husky.

OK Ok my spelling sucks, and I think my wife was in bed, did not have my reading glasses etc.... But one thing is for sure ANY true Husqvarna rider knows that Huskys is Huskys and not Huskies****************************************! And that is my final answer!!!

Thankyou!!! Of course I knew it was Huskys and not Huskies, but he may need a $4 mocha to go with his KTMies!!!
Wow! Brought back some serious memories******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** And yes Huskys is Huskys. Maby if I owned KTM's I woundn't know that********************************************************************************!!! Thankyou!!!

I had no idea posting a pic of a KTM street conversion would spark so much controversy. Odd.
Well you know how it is!!! Again mostly in fun!! Well....................................... Having fun anyways****************************************!!! But sorry guys I still think they are junk************************************************************************************************************************
