  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc I made my own 165 Kit

A last interruption, I applaud Miezie for doing this on his own and will always help when I can. I will continue to build kits it is just at the level where it doesn't really fill enough time to be called anything more than a mini-micro hobby.:)
Hopefully as guys wear out their 165 bottom ends, they will want 177 bore and stroke motors from you!

It's a shame that the Husky 125/144 is no longer in production. IMO with KYB forks it's still the best bike in it's class ever made. I'd prefer a 144 to my YZ125 but when they quit making them I opted not to switch.

I plan on riding WB165 for another 2 years and may never sell it. Everybody I let ride it comes back with a big smile. Esepeciallly since I got suspension revalved and resprung buy LTR. Now suspension can keep up with motor.

Don't make any mistakes on the power valves as they are hard to come by

I have 2 extra sets of PV's that I'll never use. One set from a factory 125 and another from a factory 144, both in perfect condition.
If you know anyone looking then feel free to send em my way.

And a huge thanks to Walk for the effort and dedication he's put into this project!
My 165 jug has been all over and is still kicking ass.

I did a 10minutes test run around the village, i think its because the carb is set up far too rich- it feels like the engine doesnt like to rev, or its the Fmf Expansion chamber (which i never really liked).

No I don't, but I should have one. Walt has told me tales of this bike and it sounds awesome. Hopefully Walt will chime in.

Should have told me you wanted to try a 177! Was at WGI this past weekend for the american endurance racing and only brought my SM as a pit bike.

I fitted the 165pipe today, got it from shawbagga (Thank you much buddy!) and changed the main jet- thats so much better now! Gearing has been changed from 12:52 to 13:49- its still lifting the front wheel easily!View attachment 67485

Don't remember, did you get Walt's PV springs? I installed white/green springs, so the PV opens @ 1000 rpm earlier and love it. I short shift to stay out of the PV, but when I can I let her rip and she is seriously fast. I run 13:49 also, I think this setup would be great for MX. Definitely roost some 250F riders

Nope- i m runnig the standard pw springs- but i have the option to re-set the pw arm linkage so it would open easier/earlier.

I did both, adjusted the linkage according to info here and replaced the springs. I think the springs were only $25 + shipping and well worth it to me.

They look like that nc i smashed my gnarly up on the first rally i did.. The first trip out on it lol. Should of taken photos before i went but hindsight is a winderful thing.

Can you direct me to that info? I adjusted it how I was told by a Husky mechanic, and it ran like shit, so I preloaded it more and it runs great now. Wondering if some fine adjustment, or different springs might make it better.
