• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ice riding

Have you considered a different quiet insert rather than selling your exhaust system?

I wish I could raise the bike.

You can. Push your forks all the way down in your triple clamps. Have the 4mm shim removed from your rear shock. Run ##/100 tires.

Well built Canadian tires like mine will last a full season on a 50hp bike. John Rosine and Marcel Fournier build the best Canadians out there right now. Jeff Fredette builds some of the best AMAs including the new Knobby ones. John has also built some of the Knobby AMAs for the 3hr last year. The sport is in a transitional point right now because of the new Canadian style studs and new tires. Either you run Canadian or wish you were. The race regulations will need to change soon to adopt these new tires. A lot of the old school guys don't like them and are quick to point fingers and call them "cheater tires" but that's just because they are left in the dust. I like riding on the ice and I like traction, any day I want to ride regardless of a little snow on the lake. That's why I ride John Rosine built Canadians. Anyone in WI ever want to rip let me know. We ride almost every weekend.

what lake(s) are you riding on. we havent been out yet but this weekend is looking good. I think i bought a set of ice fenders from you last year.

I run my Huskie stock but my YZ is lowered 2" at the NY State Championships it is a two day event and whoops and ruts are the norm on sunday. The Huskie eats them up with the woods suspension but slower rebound [clickers] on the shock to keep the bike stable coming out of corner. The YZ is pretty good considering we didn't revalve for the cold weather.

We run full travel suspension. The roadrace courses get very beat up over 3 hours, huge ruts and braking/acceleration bumps, not to mention ice heaves that can be small jumps or big kickers. But, suspension action is pretty "iffy" in the very low temps with 40 lb wheels on both ends. Harsh!

I have 2 FMF systems at home I don't need all of them so figured I would try a TXC pipe that should be super quite and not look hideous like the TE pipes. I have an insert in my 4.1 right now. I'm still looking into picking up a new TXC511 for Supermoto next season, finally build a 55hp husky!

You can purchase an additional Q insert for your 4.1 and have it modified down to a smaller diameter. This will greatly drop the decibels without adding the extra weight of the stock txc pipe (which is almost as heavy as the big can).

Also, Ty has been experimenting with new warmed grips that get so hot that they could cause blisters to bare skin. They are adjustable, but powerful enough for sub zero temperatures.

Sign me up for some grips, I'll take the first set!!! I've tried a few and all work pretty well but they aren't like snowmobile grips. I might just throw a set of those on soon. They will cause blisters without gloves.

Yes, must wear gloves with them. Adjustable though and will auto shutoff if voltage drops too low.

I have tried snowmobile grips and they don't work on bikes for me.:excuseme: Bike grips have a more powerfull element in the left grip because the right side has the added insulation of the throttle tube from the heat sinking (sucking) handle bars.
Snowmobile throttles are lever controlled (no throttle tube) and can use the same elements left and right.
What I experienced was a melting right hand and a not very warm left hand.

A few more of my boys testing for me. Father and son, they own a Harley shop in Newburg, NY. Infamous AMA MX racer there in front of his son on a rare bitter cold day here on the east coast.762000425_XvjXh-XL-1.jpg of his son. Love this pic.

Hey Drew, great to see ya the other day. Come race one of my scooters on the ice and you will love the whole cabin fever atmosphere. Everybodies smiling all day long. That's Moroney and his kid Jim in the photo above, they love my ice tires. Merry Christmas, I'll keep in touch.

Couldn't get on the ice after the storm today so I thought I'd keep the thread rollin with a pic from last years New Years Eve ride. Superbowl Ice BBQ and riding lessons 001.jpg

Dropped mine about 7 inches ,this YZ is a hoot and the same bike I run short track. The local promoter called and ask if I had a set of flags to "donate" to the races this year, along with a quad, plow and some free time LOL.
Okie will be back at Hamilton rod and gun in Sturbridge mass as the promoter once again, he has a face book page. May put a set of left rights on the wr144 just for the fun of it.
