  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

And I liked it. :D Just got my 2010 TXC250 ECU back from a reflash to the new maps. Tossed it back on and look at that, runs perfect. No hesitation no matter how tall a gear and how wide the throttle, just pulls out of it, no hicup or hesitation. Seems to run perfect. Very smooth and EZ to control. Will be putting some good miles on it shortly so I'll know if it is 100% but just ripping around the house if feels perfect.

Kelly,

Now that you have the TXC250 running perfectly, will you be installing one of the 2011 TXC310's in your garage when they are available? :busted:

Walt

I know that if they make that model I will be signing on. I have been saving a few sheckles for the 250TXC, but now I might have to reassess.

Actually I am planning on getting a 2011 TE450 and using it for extreme dualsporting. The 310 will be a great bike but as i said I don't really need more than the 250 has power wise for off road.

Kelly,

Was this covered under warranty? I talked with my dealer about a month ago and other than the water pump issue, they had no info on the ECU reflash...

Thanks again, Mitch...

My most excellent dealer did it for me. I have bought many bikes there, known them for many years. Great bunch. Shipping and beer money

BTW i have been actively nagging for months so I'm guessing that was motivation as well he he he

Good to hear that it makes a difference. I get mine done tomorrow and can't wait. Last weekend the bog became really irritating

NICE! Congrats- glad you reported so others can accept getting flashed and LIKE IT! Its really the only reason to own a trench coat...

I believe only the dealers have the reflash software. You can just send your black box no need to take the bike in.

My local dealer finally got a service bulletin last week about the 250 re-flash. He told me that the dealer would be allow to claim warranty shop time.

The dealer just has to buy the re-flash kit and wait.

Ride report. Still has a slight hesitating if your in the wrong gear and hemmer the throttle. But it only happens when you do something real stupid where a carbed bike would be pop - n- stall this just hickups and them goes. Happens VERY little. Other than that much improved. Bike runs VERY nice. need to hook up iBeat just to see where the settings are at etc. as I have not done that. Took the TXC on a camp -n- ride this weekend and got about 100 miles on it with the reflash and am impressed. runs real nice, seems to be getting better mileage and is fast. Had 250/300/450 KTMs chasing me all weekend, the TXC did not disappoint. Much improved.

Kelly,

Got mine flashed on Saturday, took it to the ORV park on Ft. Lewis with the daughter. I noticed exactly the same thing as you reported. There is still a very slight hiccup at low revs grabbing a bunch of throttle and a small sputter when whacking the throttle hard from idle, much like my 510. No longer have that dreaded blaaaaaat trying to lift the wheel around 3K! I put all my CO's back to 100 and will fine tune from there. Fun!

Reflash

We did a couple last week and worked great from rider reports,we did re Ibeat them and mess a bit and no reports of stalling or hiccups etc.billf

Reflash

Bill's Motor Cycles Plus did mine on the 18th. Have put 100+ miles on it. NO hesitation, much improved power, haven't checked fuel mileage yet. Wish I have it done before I went riding around Collville, Wa. Gramps

Just curious. Did you have the O2 sensor in when you tested it or was it in competition mode? Mine runs great in competition mode but did notice a slight cough when running with the sensor in place.

Thanks for the reply! What altitude were you running? I'm taking the bike up country this weekend to break her in! i'll be running mostly between 3600-5000ft altitude. Should I expect any problems with running to rich with out the sensor?
