  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Keihin vs. Mikuni for 150

Hummmmm............... Your right but they are wrong. I know as I bought the carb from a 2011 150XC and it IS a 36mm PWK A/S. They are propriatary as they are only available from KTM.
PS: I was just shinning you on. LOL

I know Dwight.....

P.S. I'll call Mark Hyde.....

Dwight,

You can actually get the 38 for the 2011 150xc, it is just an option and probably is the same as the 38 that comes on the sx. At least that is what it looks like on the parts fiches I was looking at. Of course what do I know as I am a Husky nut.

I bet eventually that KTM will go to the 36mm on all it's bikes. I think their big bikes run 36mm also.

So why does one motor work well with XYZ carb and not the next guy with exact same motor, etc...? Why does one motor outperform the other one?

You take two exact 09 Cylinders. One has the transfer ports ground better to a point, the other looks flat 1/8" wide, like they forgot to detail them? Has to affect fuel transfer to the ports?

One cylinder has terrible casting marks. protruding in the intake transfer ports. That has to affect fuel transfer, the other is smooth?

One stock powervalve spring, I can change out with one hand and use the other hand to slide the pin in. The other takes me two hands to push down plus someone extra to slide the pin in? Same part number as 2006? Was the spring tension changed? Are their bad springs out there?

One set of cases, I had to take alot off to gasket match it to the cylinder. Other one I have to trim some of the gasket material with a razor knife and it is almost perfect?

Why does one exact engine with WR ignition have more torque than the other with the WR ignition? Same carbs tested, same pipes, same silencers, same timing spot? One of the carbs won't run on the other engine, as good as the other?

Why does one carb work on the WR Ignition motor and you use the exact same carb/settings on the CR ignition motor, now all the settings have to change?

Alot of assembly line mass production affects things.

The best motor going is the one I spent alot of time, grinding/polishing/matching.

Some of this is just in your motor. The other one, I basically left alone till my 144 Cylinder gets back.

So how do these ports look? Should the "divider" section be so flat on top or would it flow better if filed to an edge? I laid a new gasket on it and it will require just a small trim.

NW Rider, I just spent an hour typing out what you need to do and lost the whole darn thing. I'll send you a PM and call me and I'll walk you thru it.

Thanks for posting the info on the TMX. Looks like it would only be an option for guys with the PWK.

For the TMX guys, you can use the Zip-Ty mixture screw shown below. I used it (along with a Stealth Racing idle screw) for easier adjusting on my TMX.

Welp. Got my Stealth Racing idle screw today. I excitedly removed the carb, withdrew the old screw, inserted the new Stealth Racing screw... and...

...
... it went in two or three threads and got tight!

DAMMIT****************************************!!!
I've emailed Stealth about the issue. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. But for now, I'd advise avoiding this product while I do the research for us.

BTW, my ZipTy air screw arrives Friday. Stay tuned.

krieg, that's a bummer. i ordered one right after MattR posted too :(

thanks for the heads up.

Let us know how yours turns out. I may have gotten a defective one. Just be VERY careful and don't try to force it. If it's like mine, the first turn or two makes it feel like it'll fit fine.

will do, should be here this week i assume.

Interesting..... I have a Stealth idle screw on my TMXX and had no problem. I did take a little off the fuel outlet spigot, as per instructions and ground down the knob for better clearence. I also had one on my '02 WR125's TMX.

I did the same Norman. No go.

FWIW, if you grind the outlet spigot properly, you don't have to grind the knob.

I also have the stealth screw on my TMXX and after grinding the spigot it works great. I also think you must have gotten something mis-labeled Krieg. Call them and see what they will do.
