• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

KTM/Husqvarna... now how will this play out?

Ray_Ray, I guess your GF was right when she said not to worry**************************************** ;)

10 pages or so of madness and eulogies and now the last few of guarded optimism!

Its like superman was killed by his arch enemy and then suddenly, he was back and more super than ever ...

Bajaj owns KTM. Dangit. Those guys in India are buying up some shiite. Land Rover, Jaguar, KTM, soon Husky...
As a former Land Rover owner, its a kick in the yarbols to see TaTa, the manufacturer of the cheapest production car ever built, buying Land Rover and Jag.

BMW owned Land Rover before it was sold to Ford, then to TaTa, I believe in that order. As a huge Rover fan, owning many over the years, I have to say the ones that had the most BMW in them were the best made. Similarly, the Jeeps that are out now, that have the most Mercedes in them (Mercedes owned Chrysler for a bit...)are the best jeeps made to date. Maybe Bajaj wants Husqvarna for the simple reason their dual sport style bikes are the best. There sure are a lot of people living in India to sell that type of bike to.

If this is the case, then the serious push to make competition only Husky's better may be over. From a corporate standpoint on the BMW side, they have has some success buying ailing brands and reviving them within two or three years and selling those brands for a nice profit - check out BMW's investor info. Honestly, the company is a moneymaker, no matter what the global economy is up to.

This is spreading like wildfire. Just saw this posted over on the Orange forum:

"Wow, this is not very good news for KTM, guess we'll see everyone over on the Husky boards here soon.."

I read that over there too. Couldn't help but grin-just a little.

So what about the new 250/300 with direct injection, electric start, 6 speed box thats supposed to be with us in 2014?.......My next purchase might be a Gas Gas 250 racing, or Beta 250.

Does anyone know why KTM is interested in Husky? I find this odd in that the product lines are almost identical.

Chuckc, you are backwards on BMW's purchase of Rover. Beemer purchased Rover from Ford so they could get the Mini which they had a plan for, they never had any intention of keeping Rover which pretty much competed with the 5 series, they sold Rover at their first opportunity and retained Mini and it's been extremely successful for the company.

And now my post is moot after reading more....! Maybe the serious push to make competition only Husky's even better will now be stronger than ever! This certainly has been fun to participate in!!!

Not to upset the apple cart with the BMW clan, but I have never felt BMW liked the dirt. I like Husky being in the dirt and if the rumors are true they will be again. I do appreciate BMW's investment as it was almost lights out for Husky. It is still a uphill battle getting KTM knocked off there thrown even if Stefan is in charge of Husky. KTM is huge and will take years but what better way than with there own leader. Cautious Optimism here but I think the story will change again, unfortunately.
