As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Again, I think SP bought it personally to get around anti-trust laws.
It was probably Bajajs money that paid for it.Again, I think SP bought it personally to get around anti-trust laws.
The TE449/511 is on the 2013 lineup, so do you think they will be available for the rest of the year?
I had a test ride on a TE449 last fall, but can't buy one just yet ($). That bike fit like it was made custom to fit my wants (except for a higher 5th and 6th).![]()
I think BMW's interest in the Nuda was to amortize the engine cost/engineering. They will have little interest in having Husky dealers eat into their market since they are using versions of that engine in multiple models. This was an area where what was good for Husky dealers was not good for BMW dealers, and the same can be said of the 650s on a lesser scale.
Maybe they'll bring it, we can hope at least. But SP made the statement that Husky dealers weren't ready to sell two cylinder street bikes. So, will that mean no Nuda anymore? I was really hoping that bike would come to NA. That was really my next purchase idea. This way i would have 4 Huskys in the garage.
Agreed. BMW isn't selling many F800R's, and for good reason, the Nuda R blows it out of the water. Jason and Derek said at the NW Gathering that *if* the Nuda came to the states, it would be like a V-Strom (what they didn't say was "so that it won't compete here with the BMW"). Want the roadster version, buy the arm-numbing, underpowered, ill-handling F800R.I think BMW's interest in the Nuda was to amortize the engine cost/engineering. Our 449's are BMW Tech and you know that didn't transfer in the deal.Call some of the good dealers and ask? Everything seems up in the air. The 449/511 was said to be dead anyway which sucks cuz I really like this platform. Good news is I have one and will just keep riding the red headed bastard step child that it is.
As for the gears I got the 511 and eared it up slightly and it does everything I need. Single track to fast road.
In case you missed it, with all the other posts, I'm fairly sure there is just under 2% BMW financing until the end of February through bmw on everything except TR650s (I believe 5.99% for those). The TE449/511 is on the 2013 lineup, so do you think they will be available for the rest of the year?

Personally I've no idea what the future will bring or how well they will be supported, but I do know if any group of people can solve a problem it will be the members of cafe husky.
