• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Made the switch !

The WR300 has some great attributes similar to your new KTM. I am not biased, I have owned a KTM. The electric start is a nice bonus on those when it comes to leaving the line at a race. I am kicking like a horse on meth while the KTM guys are hitting the button. Have fun with that bike. You will be amazed what a 300 2 stroke can do.
No more engine braking when you chop the throttle haha. That will be something to get used to.

I really want to hear how the torque and weight compare. Everyone says they have loads of power off the bottom but is that compared to other 2 strokes or is it comparable to a 450 4 stroke?

4 strokes have nothing on 2 strokes. A 2 stroke 250 is about equal to a well tuned 4 stroke 450.. I think they do around 50 HP and feel more torquey.. Plus a 2 stroke weighs 20 lbs less. I'm guessing a 300 2 stroke is mid 50hp .. Weigh around 230lbs dry ...

Yeah I meant more about delivery. The 300's supposedly pull from the bottom like a 4 stroke, just curious if he thinks that's true.

The last 250 2t I road was back in 02 and was a ktm 250 sx , I think 52 hp and started making lots of power down low , was nothing like any 2t i had ever riden, it felt faster than my old kx500 . I think the new 300 are 57 hp. I wanted to wait a decade to get the 11 years of refinements. I am looking forward to riding it for what it is and being happy. I know these new 2t's are where it's at . A bike that wins the knarliest races every year says a-lot and I like knarly trails so it's perfect :)

I don't think a 2t will have the off idle explosive torque as a 450+cc 4t but where the 2t accells IMOA is the nature of the engine in lugging situations, it won't flame out or stall unless you are doing somthing wrong, much more forgiving when lugging around the goat trail. The 2t by design is 30% more efficient than a 4t and makes horsepower much easier, good torque on 2t's has finally happened and the 2t evolution is born :)

And the KTM is ready to go off the floor. Enjoy! I love my 2009 KTM 200 SX. I honestly doubt I will buy another Husqvarna unless the KTM folks step up quality several notches.

Before you spent too much money and turned your back on Husky you shouldve given a WR300 a chance. Amazing bike amd much cheaper than a KTM. I wont deny the KTM has its advantages but I dont care to abuse a $9k dirtbike in the woods and at races.

k5pl5 i would love you abuse a 9k dirtbike in anywoods or anywhere just dont want to see the blokes face when i give it back...:o
