• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Man down...again Buddy Jake

Well he gets to have his newly repaired leg worked on again Monday as it is to short Crap. That sucks!!! When he told me I about threw up. I'm sure he does not need more bills. This sucks.

Wait...what? They're doing surgery to make his leg longer?? Sign me up!!

Nah, just kidding. That truly does suck :( One surgery is one too many; two is just too much...I really feel for the guy.

I'm planning on hitting up the PayPal as soon as I find out how much I'm going to get from disability. Lord knows he needs it more than I do. Don't have too many bills from my broken shoulder but I've been off work for a month.

Shattered my femur into 8 parts 2 1/2 years ago, and if it is any consolation, I was riding a year later and it healed fine.
I will check my finances and see if I can help. Just committed to buying a larger tank for the TC, surely I can spare some.

 Awesome

Thank you everyone for the well wishes! It was nice to be able to pop in and read a few replies between nurse visits. Can't believe I was in the hospital for a week! I was not able to get to Internet forums from the hospital wifi and trying to post from my phone is frustrating to provide any decent content.

To those of you that donated, Thank You! It will get used up and I will pay it forward. :D I would never have asked Kelly to do that and the sucker tricked me into giving him my paypal address in my drugged up state like it was a normal question, I answered before thinking. haha

I am home now, feeling as normal as can be considering the situation. I get to wear my clam shell back brace from my last accident for 10 weeks this time. Yay! But no surgery on my back. They have a nurse coming to the house every day to give me IV iron to try to get my blood levels back up. I was at just below 21, need to be at 25 to have the surgery I need, normal is around 40. I go in friday for the blood work and hopefully Monday for the surgery. My right leg is 20mm too short and the rotation is off 12 degrees. They plan on just adjusting the "nail" they already put in, remove the top screws, attach "jig" at the knee, slide the whole thing down and rotate it a bit. The Dr. thinks it will take about an hour and it won't be as invasive as the last one. The problem the becomes bone growth because I will have a 3/4" gap in my femur. The will check it in 4 months and see how it looks, if it is not healing there is the possibility of having bone grafts. I am hoping for natural growth.

The Dr released me to go back to work... February 1st... Two months, sucks!

Ok, now to the crash scene pictures, video and stuff.

Later,

wow Jake, that just sucks. Hope for the best possible results for you. Can you work from home? Good luck buddy.

Glad your home and sorry I missed you last weekend.
I'll head up and see you soon and dont be afraid to call if you need something. Others will help carry the burden if you let them.

Jake is home / they have to do what to your leg Monday...

Ok, the carnage and stuff...

My friend Tim grabbed the camera and documented the scene, he knew that is exactly what I wanted him to do.

Before that I had time for what was supposed to be a self portrait to remind me of my misery. I failed on that one and it looks like I am just chilling for a nap here.

They brought me a bunch of blankets to keep me warm, I am under them here. Debi the track owner is helping me out, and to of the best people who ride motorcycles to be with when things go sideways. Scott standing in the white, one of the coolest heads when things get tense, he happened to be there and came by about 10 minutes later. It was a good face to see. Dick is kneeling next to me here in the black and white. His also rock solid and keeps his composure when the Adventure begins. We have had more than a few "adventures" and always seem to get out of them in one piece. This was by far the worst. Thank you both for being there when I needed you most. I owe you both bigtime.

I think this is the stretch where it happened, or just after it.

After a few shots of morphene, the back brace came out.

The whole scene.

The pile of syringes, Tim thought he counted 12 morphene injections. Yikes.

The log roll...

I think I got the worst end of this transportation change...

And off I go...

Next up Video's and stuff...

Later,

Thanks WR5.9 I will try to post up the video's next time I get a burst of energy, feeling worn out about now.

The "Home infusion" guy just left after a major failure that led to no dose. My IV insert was expired yesterday and he had to put in a new one today. After playing human pin cushion for an hour he left with his tail between his legs and had no supplies left. That sucked, I am used to them by now but I really hate needles. They are going to send someone out first thing in the morning.

Also I was supposed to get another dose of EPO that helps rebuild the blood count. The "home infusion" company is not a preferred Pharmacy with my insurance so they could not supply that. Had the Dr. send the prescription to my pharmacy, they couldn't sell it to me because it was listed as "Home infusion only". It is $1000 a dose also so no one is going to send it anywhere with out knowing full well they are getting paid.

I worked on my flexibility some also, can almost get the knee to bend 90 degrees.

So there goes a day in the life of a GIMP.

As bad as all that sounds, the leg is just a bone and bones have been healing on their own since the days of cavemen ... Sometimes they heal crooked but that is where the DOC comes in it ... You have lots on your side here for a full recovery :)

Where did your blood count and leg bone go?

You'll be an expert on health care after all this ...

Later,

WTF, We need to get "I got this" Ben on this problem.

This all looks and sounds a little to familiar to me. By the time I was rescued it was dark and temps falling into the low 30's, shivering with broken bones is no fun, had to be drug up a steep bank, loaded on to a rhino hauled a few miles on rough trail and then loaded on to a helicopter. ( Valentines Day, my wife was waiting with candle light dinner)
Doctor put a foot long plate down the length of the bone and put a bunch of screws to hold it together but there was one chunk missing. This was in february 2009. After I got home I was on the mend but then I got a blood clot which was pretty terrible. Keep things moving as much as possible. By July I was starting to move pretty good but then the plate broke due to the gap that had not filled back in yet, everything else had healed. You appear to be a little younger than me so maybe it will fill in. So back to the hospital, take out the broken plate and put in a rod and did a bone graft on the gap and was up much quicker this time. I still had the desire to ride but I was ready to start fresh. November I bought all new gear and a lightly used 2009 wr125, joined this forum and started riding around the yard in December and hit the trails in January 2010. I was determined I would ride again as I had already decided to retire from powerboat racing so it was all I had left. I know I have to be careful and my racing days are over, I don't mind injuries so much but don't want to put my wife through it again.
Don't want to be a downer to anyone, just expressing that I have been through a bad experience, but did not miss a single day of life and I enjoy riding more than ever and have added a 2010 tc250 and love it too. All I can add is do as much therapy as possible and hopefully have a goal of riding again.
I just put a little in the church basket, wish I could do more, and I know you will pass it on when given the opportunity.

Dude, I feel your pain. Shattered my femur two years ago and it has NOT been a fun experience. Fricken motorcycles are dangerous! :D

Jake went in for re-surgery this morning at 7:30 (if his blood count was good) Think good thoughts for him please.
