• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Memory Lane - blasts from the past....

Hey good call - I was meaning to ask about 2 stroke oil......back in the day I used to use BelRay but these days, in the UK at least, it seems BelRay 2 Stroke isn't available.

There seems to be loads of new brand names around, some which seem to be popular with good reputation but would this Castrol stuff be good in my '84 AE500 ?

And I know it's completely unimportant, but does this oil have a unique smell when it comes out the exhaust? I seem to remember being at races populated mostly by 2 strokes and some of the fumes were very different to others..........

And let's face it, if I'm gonna be out on the track I want to smell at my best :))

Oh yeah that is the original stuff. I ran the heck out of that stuff and smells good! When I get these babies done, I am going to have them ship me a case of it. Go get a quart and try it, but always shake your bike so it stays mixed. It will seperate over time.

The carb on that year kind of sucks ,We were bolting on KDX175 carbs and made them rip.
When I bought that bike, it had no carb. I bought a 30mm mikuni from DG & put on it. (that was 23 yrs ago) No matter what I do to jet it, there is no bottom end. I'm sure I could find a custom reed assembly from back then & a fresh top end would help. But she screams on top.

I think a lot of those old bike were just shall I say; on the pipe bikes.
A friend of mine had one that I think was ported by Pro Circuit and it was a screamer.
