    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

MOSS Tool works awesome.

I test rode a demo bike that did not have the MOSS upgrade and then picked up my bike that had it done BIG difference ....still feels a little lean if you ride it off cold...... Temp is 27-31....... but let it warm up a little and it runs just fine
 
Hey, guys:

I rode the Terra home last night. It doesn't feel very much different than before, maybe just a tiny bit smoother off the bottom. No change in midrange or top-end performance that I can tell. Then again, our Terra ran fairly well.

I'll reiterate that our Strada is a wholly new motorcycle with the update, so if you have any issues with stalling...do yourself a favor and get this update done.

I'm off to the Indianapolis dealer show today, and will be looking to see how much Terra/Strada stuff is around.

Just returned from the trip over to Eurosport Ashville. Took them a couple hours to do the 600 mile service along with the Moss reset. I may be crazy...but I think I can tell a difference in how the bike idles. Seems much healthier. Will know more when I take a ride. Too cold for me to do the 240 mile round trip...afternoon ride home would have been nice..this morning through the gorge would have been kinda COLD..that's what big GSs are for,.( and trailers) ...with shields and heated grips lol
I'll take a ride and let you know what I think!
 
Ok after a short ride..I too say there is a difference. It's worth doing for sure if your bike has stumbled or died. I only spent a little while on the bike but IMHO it's how it should have been to start with. I don't think it has any more peak power...but it sure feels better off idle down low..say when first rolling on the throttle. It's crisp now when before it kinda felt like a old 2 stroke that was starving for fuel at low revs and liked higher RPMs to smooth out. You adapted quick if you didn't want it to stumble...keeping the RPMs up...not that feeling anymore. Even when it was cold at first start up..MUCH better than before. I think I'm really going to like this bike. Btw, the dealer used BMW 10-50 Dino oil..recommended not going to synthetic until more miles..I sorta figured it came with synthetic. .? I reckon my next change..(I'll do myself) I'll pick synthetic of some sort.
 
The odd thing is, I definitely got the 1st run of the Terra and my stalls have stopped existing. I stalled maybe 6-7 times the first week or two with the bike, but in the past month and a half, I've had zero stalls. I'm at around 1400 miles, 1/3 of that on dirt.
 
I figure it's a "learning" thing. Part of the Moss procedure is to let the bike idle without touching anything for several minutes. So it makes sense that a bike will get better and better just from time & miles. My bike does seem better after the Moss but I may have gotten the same result from allowing the bike to idle in my own driveway. It seems better and I am glad I had it done. If I can go 100 miles with no sputtering/stalls I'll call her done!
 
Hmmm, the tech at Big D told me it was important to let the bike idle on start up for about 3 minutes to let the computer do it's thing, especially when changing locations or more importantly altitude. 'Guess he knew what he was doing.
 
It's an FI thing.....DON'T TOUCH the throttle from the first push of the starter button until at least one minute has past. Three is ok, but probably overkill. You have to let the FI system find itself and settle in.....i.e. take readings & make fuel adjustments for manifold pressure (altitude), air inlet temperature, and oxygen levels in exhaust.

Also, don't hit the Starter Button too soon. Turn on the key and wait..they the OBC do it's business and settle down. Meaning...wait until the dash gauges stop cycling thru their routine before you engage that Starter.

This is very important thing with Fuel Injection Systems, as I have learned on four separate FI bikes now.

I've had my new Terra for a week or so now and have experienced the stumbles, not to signifigant to me but if a flash can make a difference I'll ride it back to the dealer in Raleigh for the fix if they have the tool....getting used to the tallish seat height....old fart with short legs lol

Highfive....good info tried it this am, 28 degrees out, and the bike ran great with none of the hesitation that I have noticed my BMW Touratech rear sprocket should be here today so I think I'm about done with running/gearing issues......time to just rack up miles !
 
I just had everything reflashed, but when first starting out, even with the engine "hot" from idling for a while, it will stumble if you put it in gear and feed some gas without giving it some revs first. By the time I got home from my ride, the stumble was gone. It's nothing like it was abefore though. It used to be terrible, and would cough and die in the middle of an intersection. Maybe a few more miles will cure the problem completely. Regardless, this is a great motorcycle for what I want it to do. I can't wait to have time to load it up and hit the road for some all day riding.

3 minutes

This was my procedure for my 2008 TE 250. After 1000 miles it would idle very smoothly, no issues, no special fix, just IBeat for TPS and TB adjustments. After power up of course.
 
I had mine done today. Put over 100 mi on taking the long way home. It made big difference off the bottom and smoothed everything out. I thought my bike was running good before but this update showed me how much better it could be. Highly reccomend doing it.

Was that the dealer in Plano? Seem to be good group of guys. Friendly and responsive to customers. Picked up my Terra mid-December. Seems to be first batch. Couple of stalls when accelerating just after shift to 2nd gear. Maybe I'm adapting but fewer mishaps as of late.
About 200 miles back to dealer. Heading that way soon.
 
I've found that I can make my Terra die under the following condition: when coasting down a hill or decelerating, let off all throttle and let the engine dynamically brake. Engine will be sounding good...rumbling with an occasional pop. If I force myself to NOT breath on the throttle, and pull in the clutch, it will die. This is most prevalent rolling down a hill or incline. I can make it do it every time. Also, if I occasionally breath on the throttle during the rolling it will not die. The engine dying is preceeded by more pronounced popping during coast.

When I go in for the 600 mile service, I'm going to request a MOSS mash, and I'll report the results.
 
400 miles since the Moss adjustment. I thought it died on me today ...but I hit the kill switch by accident !

It stumbled once during the first day after trailering the bike home. It may have been adjusting due to elevation change.

Ashville is higher than Knoxville..(no pun intended) lol

If your bike dies or stumbles ...get to a dealer! Do the Moss thing.
 
Went in to do the moss thing and according to my Husky shop the moss toll has been turned off and we are all out of luck. Please can anyone confirm this for me.:cry: I hope its not true:excuseme:
 
That sounds like BS..(I sure hope so..!) not what your saying ...but what the dealer told you. I want to think that these words are from your dealer because maybe they don't want to take time to fool with it...or doesn't know how? Password changed...something. I hope. My dealer has been great so far. I'll try and call them to ask. Is there another Husqvarna dealer close to you ?

If this is true...we all have a problem.
