• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My BAD 79 WR build

84 scrambler, the black rims and foot pegs look great. What kind of tig are you using for the pegs? I'm considering buying a small one for all the damaged cases I've got.
Something capable for aluminum and mag is not a low end welder. Eastwood has a TIG that has switchable wave for about $600. You can also weld stainless with MIG

I'm back guys, sorry it's been so long. I have been trying to finish my jeep and got side tracked. So I put the tank on and took some poser shots..

So this is where I made it to and now I am in need of some info from you all. I am going to need a rebuild kit for the ohlin remotes and one new shaft as you can see in the pic. Any ideas as where to purchase such thing? or any body have this stuff cluttering up their shop ?

looks great..Philip at Husqvarna-parts has all the Ohlins parts you need..seal kits, shafts, bumpers, spring rub guides,oil..and grooved body caps if yours dont already have them.

its lookin good nice work my first husky was a 79 250wr dont for get the lectron and mossbarger reed cage

I am doing the engine now , just orderd a piston kit and put new crank seals in the bottom. I did look at the reeds the other day they seemed okay a little dirty but no cracks or lifting. What is this mossbarger cage thing ? after market ? sounds like a shot gun...lol If the reeds look good, is there anything I should do or change to them?

that cage thing [some call it a block] the part the reed pedals are screwed too . mossbarger was the hot go fast part back n the day i couldn't afford one back then i ran Boyesen reeds on the O.E. cage and a Lectron carb and my old WR hauled a$$ i'll see if i can post the links
www.boyesen.com, http://mossbargerracing.com/index1.htm, http://www.lectronfuelsystems.com/ hay that was easy

Yeap, Drew is the man on Ohlins, his got lots of trick for Vintage Husky, now that his riding
them

Sorry for the delay in progress guys, I am waiting on a new piston kit . Motor has just been resealed with new crank seals and center gasket, everything checked out good in the bottom too. I have a new shaft for the ohlins coming with the piston kit so I cant send the shocks to Drew untill I get everything in , so I am just waiting on the mail carrier.

Bike looks great. Drew is top notch on ohlins. He just did a set for me. I can't wait for spring to try them out. I just got them painted last week. Springs are almost readyto install.

Ok guys, parts in ... piston, spacers, wrist pin bearing, and my new shaft for my ohlins. (yes)pic2.jpg
side shot from the engine bay, check out those tabs. No more paint missing from the plastic clamps, (just because thats why)pic5.jpg
Had the cyl. clearanced to my new piston and did some minor porting in all the right spots.pic6.jpg
Crank seals in and ready for the top end. every thing else check all good.

Really like those welded tabs for the plastic... Very neat and easier to deal with. This whole project is looking good.

Hey thanks momudder, I know alot of you guys would have not done that but I kind of like it , kind of like my updated brake pedal seems a littlemore user friendly

Bolted the motor in finally the other night.

carb on and starting on my wiring .

I am looking for just the right wire loom going to the tail light, might snag it from the 04 parts bike. Installed a filter for the first few tank fulls also.

Just got my ohlins back from drew at W.E.R. now its time to get painting and assembling .tw4.jpg
All painted up , now to the eyes
.tw3.jpg
Added my home made 1" spacer to help bring the rear up some to match the 40's up front.tw1.jpg

Here is what I came up with for my lower bushings, I bought some poly urethane bushings close to what I needed then cut them down and used a belt sander to get the numbers where they needed to be. A wopping 8 bucks for bottom bushings , can't beat that with a stick...
