  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New '09 TE 250 - Help!!!

DeanRM

Husqvarna
AA Class
I just picked up a brand-new '09 TE 250 last night from my local dealer. He 'uncorked' it and installed the PU parts. The one thing that he did not do is remove the Lambda sensor.

I rode it a little last night, and it runs rough at low rpm, espically when you are coming into a corner with the throttle off, and start turning the throttle on and it seems like it wants to die, alomst like it is running out of gas. After a second or two, it gets going again. It seems to run pretty good with a little more rpm, but I am pretty easy on it until it is broke in.

Would removing the Lambda sensor help this, or is there something else that I should be considering?

One other thing I noticed, is that sitting in my garage, there were a few drips of gas on the floor. It looked like they were coming from up under the tank, the wiring harness has some gas dripping from it. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Dean

If the Lambda sensor is still installed on the header pipe, then he didn't install the brass plug. Did he give that part to you? If he did then it's a quick fix, if not I would give him a call and get it.
Another problem is if the other end of the Lambda sensor is still connected to the harness. Did you check? If that is connected, he didn't install the Lambda sensor connector either. I hope he gave these parts to you and good luck.

Definately it will run better in those conditions in full power up mode- it does need to break in too. I hope you have the parts as explained above- those were included as part of your bike- so they are your parts. ONce installed it does waive your warrantee- which is maybe why the dealer did not instal them. However doing a "half of a power up kit" in my experiece causes the bike to be very lean- because the exhaust and air box are opened up- but the fueling is leaned our by having the o2 sensor in place as well.

The gas leak- it is most likely that the quick connector from the fuel line to the tank plastic elbo did not completely seat- the plastic elbos are very fragile so be careful don't treat it like a metal petcock- your dealer may be able to reconnect that for you if you are unfamiliar and don't want to mess with it. But there are 3 bolts to access- one on top near the steering head and 1 on each side panel- then just unhook the seat and the tank will be accessable- it has the Fuel pump wire loom and the fuel hose connecting it so it only comes up a couple inches before you run out of slack. should be able to unhook the fuel line by squeezing the 2 pressure tabs and disconecting - then reconnecting it will click when secure.

Hey guy's,

Excellent information! I really appreciate it! I will probably bring it back to the dealer to deal with the fuel leak. He is only a few miles away, and if he breaks something trying to fix it, he can deal with it.

I did get the brass plug and the wiring harness connector. I will get those installed. I am hoping that will take care of the issue. Does the bike need to have the computer re-flashed?

Also, what oil filters are you guy's running?

Thanks!
Dean

Genuine husky filters in mine.
You need the Lambda out and the race resistor in for ultimate husky power :) lol
