  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New 13 TXC 310

You guys have me reaching for my check book  . So...how much more power does the TXC310 12&13 have over a 2010 TC250 with a slip on Leo?

Oh, maybe just 1/4 of 1/4 of a horse (in Draft Horse Terms)!

Call your dealer, go ride a 310 12 or 13. I bet you abuyyaone!

Yeah the 250 and 310 handle the same but that's where it ends. The 310 is perfection. Though I still love the TC449.

What's funny is: guys are going 449, now that they find how well they handle and stick to ground from new racers.

I almost bought one last year, but no one around here were racing them till late year. I think the mags blew it with their negativity.

Clint @ Halls is running his in Springfield Mo, at the Endurocross.

The 250, 310 and 449/511 are all great bikes IMHO. You would think the 250/310 is way more nimble and racy than the 449/511 and they are to some extent but for many the gap is not that huge. I have a 511 and my buddy has a nice 310 and we trade off a lot and we both like both bike a lot for the woods riding we do.

Ideally I would just buy the whole dealer floor lol

I'm interested to see how it does in endurocross because I would think (after spending a fair amount of time on each) the 310 would be better for that. The only reason I would say so is that it feels quite a bit lighter and they face things that no one would see in a trail. To be honest, I would consider the 165 with a rekluse if they make them :)

I also crossed over solid white fork protectors. 09 Honda CRF 250, but you have to get the Honda brake clamp/bolts. Also, have to request solid white or you get those semi clearish white ones.

you should check out the gasgas fork protectors..i bought some in white for my 2010 TE,providing they are still the same mounting..they wrap around the forks much better than stock and unlike ktms they unsnap in back so you can remove them without taking off the wheel! you also need the brake holder from gasgas as well for the brake line..

Good to know. I will remember that next time around. I looked a those couple years ago and figured you had to drop your forks. Learn something new every day. Cafe Husky is great! Like a magazine with new ideas that talks back to us!

Well that ain't hard to do .
I think you will be very interested in this month's MXA. They have a article on the R & D throttle body mod for efi bikes. Looks like it does for the efi bikes what the APT and Electron carbs do for the two strokes.

I finally fixed that floppy bar pad once in for all, since it doesn't fit very well on the newer style upper bar clamps. Also, routed my gas cap vent hose thru the bar pad and into steering stem.

I picked up a black aluminum Husky gas cap, filed, sanded and polished the edges. I also did the outside Husky logo in red.

I got some Aluminum and Tig Welded up my own case saver and polished it. I wanted a weld bead look on the outside.

Here are pictures of both sides. I finally got my new front number plate decal, Honda solid white, 09 CR250F fork protectors and also my KYB fork decals.

Got a little more ride time on it and definately have to send the suspension out. Front forks are far from compressing to hit my riders sag numbers. One suspension guy already told me that he has done several forks and they have who knows, what springs in them? Says could be .46 or even .48's.

I will say, every time I ride this bike, I find more that I like about it.

Great thread Darin, somehow I have missed it. Your new bike is sure looking good, but I see the vintage tanks got moved under the bench.
BTW-the welds look good on the outside, nice touch.

Thanx Steve. Yeah, I got a little sidetracked. Good eye! Those are my 5 vintage tanks in primer waiting to be final sanded/painted. It turned cold here before I got them sprayed.

What do you mean? Missed it. You wouldn't have if wouldn't of misplaced your bifocals!

What brand handguards are those?

UFO Plastics ones: Paramano Alu

You can look them up on their site. You want the ones with a bend to clear your clutch and brake masters plus fit big bars.

I have the white ones that match the white in fenders good. I may pick up a set of red plastics as extras. I think the red is close match to Husky Red. They will know if you call them. Guys are good to deal with and race Arena Cross.
