• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Facebook group is over the top.

yeah..would love to check it out but i wont do facebook

I gave up on facebook years ago for MANY reasons, mainly politics and drama. I recently learned about all the cool stuff I was missing out on facebook in buy and sell groups and groups like Steve started, so I created a pseudo profile. With the pseudo profile I have a couple good local friends and a few other guys I have things in common with, about 10 people total. This way I can have access to the cool groups on facebook without all the typical facebookness. No drama, no reconnecting with so and so, no mundane updates, no politics, just things that interest me. Only a few people know my real identity and I get zero friend requests. My feed is chock full of motorcycle nostalgia and parts for sale. I've sold quite a few parts and had great dialogue with likeminded folks. If I see any posts I don't like from a friend of mine I simply unfollow that persons posts. This is the only form of facebook that appeals to me, my anti-social way of dealing with social networking.

Michel,

Dag Edlund is apparently one of the engineers of the prints also wrote in the FB post

To improve the primary clutch a new design was under testing when we had to quit in sweden. Spring washers under compression and adjustable spring force. No more broken extension springs.
During 1987 we introduced a complementary heat treatment of the prim clutch drum, heating it to 450celsius for appr. an hour. This pevents cracking. This can also be done later to secure it from cracking.
Lab tests indicated that to large amount of oil in the gearbox would increase heat buildup, in fact 0,5 litre is enough. There is also a pocket inside that collects and distributes oil to the sensitive freewheels on the drive shaft.
The lower engaging rev you can live with also minimises the wear of the prim clutch.

That engine is awesome! Cartridge trans and crank. The rear master cyl., brake lever and disc on the last bike is sweet. The swingarm is a half new half standerd for that frame. Clean work.
