So...this old gal sort of arrived at my doorstep.
It's a lot like the European stuff I used to covet as a lad...CZ, Maico, Husky, Bultaco...
I'm pretty smitten, although the guy I got it from was such a doofus, I'm not even going to fire it up without giving it a going over.
The 2 first, most obvious things I noticed were a homemade brake rod...piece of all thread with a clevis welded on.
This seems to me to be an almost universal part and maybe looking for an original isn't necessary, but I would like something that doesn't look like it comes from Ace Hardware.
The other is, there is a lot of play in the shift shaft.
Whatever hole or bushing it goes through is clearly shot and the previous owner did tell me it leaks from there.
Right behind the shaft, in the case, is a screw....looks like a set screw or something, but it seems to thread into something that also spins when I turn it...with fingers.
What is that?
I need a shop manual!
Any help for a Husky newbie out there?
Oh...crap...this is one of those sites where you need a hosting thing to post an image...
I'll try to get on that.
Oh, yeah...one of the things that gave me a giggle about this bike is, I think I've had every imaginable configuration of motorcycle...left foot shift, right foot shift, left hand shift, right hand shift, right hand throttle, left hand throttle, LEVER throttle (!!)...but this is my first left side kicker.
