  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

NO BMW map, or alternative solutions in the UK

Have a 12' TE511 with Akrapovic (map3) loaded and every once in a while, It'l stall. Lately it's been getting harder to start. I guess I'm a little spoiled as a Technician at a dealer that carries Husky. I called my Service area manager (who also preps/tunes the race bikes) and he said to set the TPS to 3% (instead of the factory 1%) at idle- and what a difference! Starts right up and throttle response is way more crisp- oh and no stalling as of 2 times riding it. I tuned a 13' TE449 today (FMF exh and Map 3) and it was already set to 3%. I recommend at least having your bike(s) checked as it really helps. Only downside is a dealer has to do it (obviously with you bike sitting there in front of them) :D

Anyone still using a JD Tuner after BMW3# map re-map, if so what settings? had the remap and got carried away, slight concussion, but thats another story, now awaiting a 2012 TC air box cover.

Funny thing is; we do software support around the world using simple screen sharing or other remote access tools. If bikes had a common interface (eg USB) that could be plugged into via a laptop....it really wouldnt need to be 'sitting there in front of them')

As it is now you need unique cables, unique software .....etc. which really shouldnt be necessary.

I want a neural implant that links the ECU to my brain so I can make changes on the fly, and I want the ECU to sound like Scotty.
Knowing my luck, I'd end up with Jarvis, and highly sarcastic too. Course I can see the new Scotty saying "Holy Shit"

Well MaDProFF, this has been a long thread, your search for proof of the elusive map3# in the UK has come to an end.Its been informative with great input from' those that know', across the water, Tinken has been a great help especially . Tinken confirmed the BMW map3# is the Full Titanium Akroprovic Map , Husky Sport have this map and re-mapped my bike, and I can report that it feels like the JD Tuner, but revs on, quite a difference. They prefer your bike to plug into, but will do it if you send in the ECU.
Alternatively you pop up to Dunmow, and I could sell you my JD Tuner.

Finnish importer and local shop close to me were both able to help me in January. I asked about maps and I was told there is three diffent maps for the bike and I decided to go with map 3. If you ask from Husky dealer about maps, maybe you shouldn't mix BMW into this, make inquiry with the bike model.
Map 3 is great with akra slip-on, and works propably so with FMF too. Totally eliminates flame-outs and improves overall behaviour. Comes harder down low than with full ti akra, which makes motor smoother feeling and easier to drive. I have no dyno results, but it's all about how it feels.
If you add TC airbox cover into mix like I did, af mixture goes a bit lean. Adds horsepower, but occasional stalling comes back to scene. Seems to me, that pcv5 is very reasonable way to make perfect bike.
There is cheap horsepower to be found at will. Map 3 ca. 40 €, airbox cover 23 € makes big difference. Those who don't have slip-on, go get one.
Hi, where in Finland did you do it? In Helsinki? I'm asking because this summer I'm going there, and it would be good if i can reflash my ecu there...could you tell me the dealer and where is it??
Kiitoksia!!

Just picking through this thread.
I had the exact same thought only last week.
All car manufacturers now use OBDII data ports, I have a $30 eBay bluetooth dongle & a $5 Google app called 'Torque' on my phone.

I can plug into nearly all cars -

- You can see data from all sensors on the engines plus some chassis stuff too like fuel remaining in tank etc.
- Find and reset trouble codes.
- Display data in real time as a graph & a gauge
- Run performance times
etc.

If only bikes were this easy eh....sigh! :(

My bike was done in Motobox, Hamina, nearby my home, 130 km from Helsinki. They can't do it without your bike in Motobox, but former Finnish Husqvarna importer might be able to help you. At time my ecu was flashed, they had TE449 in house. Look for info at: http://www.mp-racing.fi/yhteystiedot-i-4.html

Thanks mate. But it's a bit far from Helsinki, and I'm just going there for probably one day (visit some friends), and wont pick up a train for just going there.
Kiotoksia vielä kerran!

I have the same thing, works fantastic, cheap and full of info. This stuff needs standardized.

apparently you can the elusive map, from the Husky Dealer in Winchester at a cost. I am still at odds what to do, PCV or just the map, Would prefer PCV, but it is the expense.

Well, i would try first the map...a PCV it's quite expensive. Just give a try to the map, and if you are not happy with it, go then for a PCV. It's just my opinion, and it's what i'm gonna do...

There should be a way for a regular person to do this. Is the 1% and 3% really just a voltage measurement? If we can measure the voltage, and then move the TPS, can we accomplish the same thing. I think so. Any chance you can tell us what voltage your tps gives at idle now?
