  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

No Spark TE 250

Husqvarna
B Class
Any help on this appreciated!!

My '06 TE 250 will not spark on the kick or button, needs to be towed to about 3000rpm and will then start and runs like a treat.

Tried all the obvious, plug, kill switch, wiring, magnets...anyone had any problems with CDI or generator? Also anyone have readings as Husky Sport dont seem to be able to provide and the advice I have received so far is try another CDI which is what they would do....If I had a showroom full of bikes like they do this may be an option...

Any pointers appreciated.

I don't know anything about the 06 TE250 but from another thread:

When I first got my 08 TE510 I used to have all kinds of stalling, popping on decel and flame out. When I removed the tank to install my IMS fuel tank, I found the spade connectors on the ignition coil to be very loose. I crimped them tighter, (it was actually a little tough to get them back on) and cured all my problems. This was a very simple fix for a problem that should not be there to begin with. I think coil connections should be studs with nuts and lock washers, especially with the vibrations of a 4 stroke single.

Obviously a different bike & year so this may well not be your problem and your connections may be different anyway, but worth a look if you haven't already. What's your battery voltage like when it's on load, i.e. when you're trying to start it on the button? Do you know for sure there's no spark (i.e. have you tried it with the plug out) or could it be something else?

BTW, who did you speak to at Husky Sport? I've found Pete in the workshop very helpful and familiar with the sorts of problems you're likely to come across on Huskys. :applause: It would probably make sense for them to try another CDI unit if they had the bike, as it's a simple and easy way to eliminate one of the possible causes. As you say, doing it yourself and not having spare parts or other bikes you can "borrow" bits from does limit your options so you have to do it the hard way! :banghead:

Thanks Petem, agree about Peter at Husky Sport, but its a pricey process of elimination. Will check what you suggest.
