• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Northwest Fall Gathering Round 2 - China Hat / Bend Oregon Oct 2011

Hey, Kevin! I'd be riding Eric's `02 ECO250 myself if I thought I could get away with it at a Husky ride :busted: I love that bike!
He's got an `03 DE300 (cross country model) that he wants to sell, too :D
looks like I'll get my first ride on a GasGas ? how's your 144 running ?

My 144 is running like a top  Well, I say that now before riding all these screamin' 167's. I'm sure I'll be disappointed with it afterwards :(

We won't be bringing any GG's with us but Tim H's is pretty sweet. Eric will be on his WR250 and I'll be on the 144.

  • The riding area is about 30 miles / 60 minutes away from Bend
  • There will almost certainly be extra bikes
  • There will quite probably be a number of people with vehicles going between Bend and the riding area
  • Fishing, golf, mountain biking, skiing (unlikely in October) are common local pastimes so if you dont want to ride all the time there are other things to do. http://www.visitbend.com/
  • The Giant Loop bag people http://www.giantloopmoto.com/ are headquartered in Bend as is off-road gear vendor Atomic Moto http://www.atomic-moto.com . Atomic plans to visit us at the ride, too.
  • BMP Husqvarna (Bill's) is in Salem, about 2 hours west of Bend. They can help you with parts, off road permits and general Husqvarnaness plus they will be at the event. http://billshusky.com

Update by Coffee 8/12/2011:

I will add information here as it develops.

I will be at "the hat" from the 20th with my buddies for our annuall. See you there.

Hey there IonEater, go get Fitness2go, throw your bikes in the truck and get down there. My brother Nick and I are planning on making this ride. We missed it last year and we have'nt seen anybody since the '09 Baja trip. WC and Eric, you guys, and the rest of the GNW guys will be great to meet and ride with. Plus was'nt it you telling us about all the good GNW beer?

Hey Jim! I remember you both quite well as you guys made the desert riding look so easy! Fitness2go has jumped ship to team Orange. He's now on a 2-stroke 300. I know his work schedule just changed again so we'll see if he's going to be able to break away or not.

Yes, the beer flows like water up here and there's bound to be something you'd like for sure! Bend's got at least 2 breweries that I know of... If I can get off my ass I'll make a batch of Porter that my "taste testers" have dubbed thumbs up and bring some down.
