• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Out and About (Terra, Strada)

 Good one Nev! Grange halls were became popular in the late 19th century in America. They were started by farmers and were a gathering place for many purposes. Some for trade, politics, social gatherings etc. They started in the mid-western states I believe. There are still many active Grange Halls all the way out west here in Washington State. Cheers!
Here in Colorado there are a lot of them, but they call them a Lions Hall. They are in almost every other town in eastern Colorado. I can't think of one in the western part of the state.....hmm. I wonder how they came up with the land and money to build them. Here, they are always right in the towns. The Granges Krussell post seem to be in the country and way more scenic than these here. They are still used here and kept up very well. They usually hold a pancake breakfast and other events on the weekends in the summer to bring the community together.

http://orgrange.org/what_is.htm has some background. Across the US there are many Grange halls that are on the National Register of Historic Places. Around Oregon there is quite a mix. Some right in the middle of large cities, some appear in nice rural settings. The buildings are typically volunteer maintained, so you see a wide variety of upkeep. they are usually a good place to pose whatever I'm riding for a picture and enjoy a break before heading on.

One of my favorites...

Oh, wait, this is a Husky forum. My bad!

Picked the Terra up from the shop before lunch, then went for a 170km warm up lap around my local area

Batman Bridge. Yeah, that's right, Batman

Top of the Asbestos Range. The bridge is back down to the right, almost straight line up from the number plate. The Tamar River can be glimpsed in the distance

Nice looking bike there Rob (Aren't they all****************************************). I don't want to start a game of superhero oneupmanship here, but the city were I live (Melbourne) was founded by John Batman, and was originally known as Batmania. (And my birthday is the same day as Adam West :busted: )

Named after the same guy. John Batman was in Tassie first, before founding Melbourne. I drive over this bridge 10 times a week

Batman even caught a bad guy, bush ranger Matthew Brady

Great pics Wolf. Got a thing for waterfalls. Maybe has something to do with I grew up near Niagara Falls.
There a couple of falls around here gotta go visit soon.

Maybe we should do a "Water Falls Only" thread.

I could spend all summer up here in N. Georgia tracking down all the falls and still not see half of them.

I goggled Stonewall Falls. Sounds like a Mountain bike would be the way to go.

Definitely gives me some inspiration for some road trips around BC.

I REALLY like that idea! I'll ask Fab to take me to a waterfall this weekend. Thanks HD

This is a great idea and would be a challenge for me as well as an excuse to do some exploring. With two major mountain ranges, there are LOTS of waterfalls here in the US Pacific NW, but you have to hike to most of them. Getting a photo with the Terra in the frame without breaking a law would be the challenge. I might stand a chance now with the spring snow melt going on.

I hear ya. A few years back your could ride your bike right up to the fence at most falls. Now you'd would be lucky to get close with a bicycle.

Hey Someone else can start a "Water Falls" thread. If this weather doesn't smarten up soon it might be a while before I get to any.

Took the Terra for the first overnighter. Not a good weekend here in the PNW but still had fun. Dropped down into Oregon to see if we could get away from the rain. Got away and looked promising but woke up to this at the Ditch Creek Guard station in Umatilla NF.

Very nice photo. Looks like your camping gear worked out pretty well. In the "Show us your camping setup" thread, I didn't see any waterproof covering on some of your stuff. Cause any probs or did you do the simple but effective garbage bag trick
